Hey guys I was thinking about making my own side locker. I have a 36in metal brake so I would have to rivet it together or weld it. Its for a cm an quiet glide. wouldn't have any drawers just shelfs. Do you guys have any idea on how about to do this?

I have thought about a cabinet on each side of my workbench that would act like side lockers. It would feature a slide out shelf unit using Space-Trac. They offer a pegboard kit for it. It might be easier than trying to make one out of steel.

watch this video. you'll get the idea:

Also, you could just get a HF side locker for $200. Not sure you can make one for much cheaper.

I made my own locker at work recently for my toolbox. I work in a fabrication shop so I had access to a laser to cut the pieces, and a large press brake to form it. I went with 16 gauge for the steel (that was as light as we had) which worked pretty well. I did go a little overkill for the size but it all worked out in the end. I would have to look to see if I have any pictures of my build process.

Even if you don't have any build pics, i'd like to see some of it finished. Sounds like a fun project. The problem is if you can't get steel at a decent price then it's not very cost effective to do.

I farm so I have a bunch of sheet metal laying around I need to get rid of so I wouldn't need any steel or very little. But I would like to see some pics for ideas!

I'll have to take a few pictures of it on Monday as the few I have on my phone don't do it any justice and aren't current with what is in it now. It was a fun project to do, and the only cost to me was the door and lights for the inside.
