I am doing a remove/reinstall of the iron heads on my 6.0 silverado. I would like to clean the heads good before putting them back on. I am planning to get a storage tote large enough for the job, but what do you guys recommend for a cleaning solvent? I was going to use mineral spirits, but us there any cheaper options? Fwiw, I plan to clean them up with the valves in the heads, then do valve seals after cleaning. Thanks!

Thanks Jeremy. I have used gas in the past on smaller items, but I don't want to use that on this project.

Diesel would be the cheapest, a can of that gunk cleaner first, could do it for under 10 in materials. You wont need a few gallons, a gallon or so and a brush and depending on where you are some degreaser and wash it out or run it to a quarter wash and blast it.
