I want to try this, but what do you guys think? I have a 6 month old qtimax, that struggled and couldn't remove a honda crank, SO dealer comes with a mg725 and embarrasses me, pulls it right out, no struggle. So now I wonder, since being quiet, it has a restricted exhaust, what happens if you remove all the sound dampening?

Have you oiled and greased it since it was new? There is no reason the MG725 should embarrass you, the performance is very close. You can take out part of the muffling that is in the chamber above the motor but the rest is sealed in the handle.

Unsure if I am the incorrect one here, but shouldnt the TiMAX series use metal housing grease? That's what i have been putting in my pair...

It should use IR105 if the tool is disassembled and being regreased or 115 if greasing through the fitting.

Had it happen again..... on a lugnut, mine struggled so I let it hammer, after 30 secs of hammer I grabbed his mg725, using my same flip socket, and it zipped it off

Sounds like you need a rebuild.. or at least take it apart, clean the internals, and re-grease it.

The gun when perfectly fine, is very similar to the MG725. I know because I had both at one point and neither one had a clear advantage over the other in power.

Letting it "hammer" won't help you. You're going to get the most power in the first couple seconds.

Hit it and quit it. Repeat.

what kind of lug nut? a dump truck? there isn't a passenger vehicle / light truck lug any decent 1/2" impact shouldn't take off. if you're having trouble with lugs, something is up with the gun...

My 20 yr old IR231 will remove the Budd lugnuts on my Peterbilt. Spec for them is 475 ft lbs but the tire shops just run them on with a 1inch impact. I'm very impressed with the IR.

...you didnt happen to have the forward/reverse push buttons half in on both... very easy to accomplish and lose power

exactly my reaction. as a diesel mechanic that uses his 2135qtimax to remove and install lugs... this gun has plenty of snort, time after time I prove it to the older guys. Im not going to beat myself up with a heavier, slower, and weaker gun, just because the anvil is 1" ...I tightened the lug nut with his 1" then used my gun and moved the lugs another quarter turn. I also tightened another lug and took the torque wrench set to 450ft/lb and it clicked before moving the nut. shop pressure was at 140psi.

thank you, this video is an example of how similar the guns are. the mg725 in the video was brand new, never used. my ingersoll was over a year old.

It was a passenger vehicle, funny that it should need a rebuild now, its only about 6 months old, and I have oiled it everyday and greased it every month, I know I don't leave them half pressed because mine spits air when I do that.

Yeah it sounds like the gun needs a rebuild for whatever reason. I use my 3/8" MG325 for 99% of the lug nuts I come across.

IDK I have that gun too, not the quiet version, and it has pulled dump truck wheels too.

ATC is a thinner oil/cleaner, they say you can use it as a full time air tool oil. It's what I am using right now.
I had put away my tired blue point air ratchet, ran the ATC through it, all this black dirty oil came out. Seemed to give it more torque.
Comes in a liquid too.
