As well as making some Matco, Cornwell, and probably more I don't know about or forgot.

Mac. All of macs pliers that start with m in the part number are re badge channellock. All Cornwell with ccl in the part number are channellock. Both use the original channellock part number in their numbers. Cornwell prices are like 10-15% higher than the original channellock piece. I have no idea about Mac because the Mac tool truck is like the yetti here.

I believe some of the Ideal and Blue-Point pliers are also rebranded Channellocks with different color grips.
When you have the part numbers memorized, you start to notice these things!

I bought the 10 piece Cornwell set (couldn't find it on the site last, but looks like both 5 piece sets together) on special for $100. :D The one and only thing I bought from the local Cornwell guy before he decided to stop being a Cornwell guy.

Very astute Mr. Moss! I bet if you look at craftsman wire strippers (T-Stripper), they will look very familiar to you also...

I knew that but all the rest of the SK pliers look like WF/craftsman. Those crimpers I have never seen elsware but klein and ideal. I guess they would have to be. I highly doubt they would use Klein as a oem.

All of those brands that I put in bold used to belong to Cooper Tools.

Apex was owned by Cooper Tools also.

So Danaher owned part of Apex, then sold it to Romney?
Wow...

vs Apex buying out Danaher (what I thought was meant!)

I may have gotten it backwards, but I though I had read somewhere that Apex acquired Danaher during a conversation asking if the Apex label would be replacing Danaher's on tools/packaging. Now I'm confused. :dunno:

In my modest opinion, the original T&B Sta-Kon pliers with the Orange and Black (I think, or is it blue... I think it's black.) are the best. Although it's about the only T&B tool I've owned. I'm not sure they are the OEM, I'm sure someone know, but I liked their design/patern better, especially on insulated terminals...

I have the SK set but was wondering who made them. I had a set of kleins years ago and lost them. I could not find another set like them anywhere. I found the SK online and bought them. They are nice but the grips are a little too "slippery". I don't know why I like that style crimper I think it's the back crimp die crimps connectors with little hand force. That's important when you are crimping all day.

I was in lowes last night looking at a Lufkin tape measure and I must have had a senior moment thinking about just who made that tool...It must be nice to have billions of dollars in order to buy up tool companies, just like going outside for a walk in the park.

Stanley Black & Decker doesn't manufacture anything for those brands, they just reap the monetary benefits of owning them.
