I'm down in Burlington, 45 minutes from Toronto, but I do have a good buddy working at an electrical supply house nearby and he's been helping me gather materials for my electrical needs. I've forwarded your spec suggestion but I'm curious if that would be rated for a 50A inlet? I can attach to the fence, and it will be replaced in 2 years so I can have the new one built with provisions to attach it nice and low, trimmed for protection from weed eaters / mowers. There is no vehicle access in the back yard.
If that were 20' longer I'd be asking for your phone number. I measured it out and 95 is the absolute minimum to make this work. I really do appreciate the offer though. I've been watching Kijiji for used wire.
6awg aluminum is rated for 50 amps under the 75° column.
Unfortunately if the receptacle isn't marked for the termination temperature, you have to assume 60° termination temp, which is 40 amps.
We can cheat and put a piece of wire in that is 1.2 meters long (or longer)... that is to say, Polaris taps should be rated for 75° termination temp, so you can transition from #6 aluminum to #6 copper for 1.2 meters, then use the copper on the receptacle/inlet.
Or, go one size up on the wire and go to 4awg 3 conductor ACWU.
