I was looking for one for that size box to go under my lathe.
You can get some low quality table top type material at home depot and lowes, I thought it was too thin at an inch so I was going to laminate two of them together an stain and seal them.

Look at ikea if you have one around, they have good deals

Check out some prefinished flooring.
All kinds of wood and thickness to pick from.
I would glue it to a plywood sub base for the correct thickness and then cut to fit.

I made mine out of bulk red oak flooring. Made the top to fit the box and then flipped it over and used a router to cut grooves for stringers and runners under the box. Used the same red oak floor boards to fill the grooves for strength.Frames the outside with more floor boards. Routed a groove around the perimeter to catch any errant spills and mounted an aluminum plate inside the ID of that groove. Sanded the whole thing down and put on 7 or 8 coats of polyurethane. Super stout! it is just as thick as a standeard Snap On top.

Not the best picture of it...
