Ok, New house for her, new garage for me!!
We move in in 10 days. I have a small 20X21 2 car. I currently have 2 kits of the Valspar (V/P) tan. and 1 kit of Epoxy-Coat.
I am not sure of the epoxy coat color or options I may have with it. I am also unsure how old it is.
I have been bouncing back and forth from
* Ceramic...Good durability if installed w/ no voids but, dull colors, labor intensive
* Plastic locking tiles...$$$$$..no gloss
* Peel and stick. easy and cheap but not the strongest to hold up under jack stands
* Vinyl tiles..need periodic waxing, labor intensive to install.
* Linoleum..May tear, not friendly to solvents
* Carpet Squares..easy install,,,,but they are carpet!!
* Valspar epoxy..Thin coat, dull colors
* Epoxy-Coat...tough...unsure if it is still Good? or enough of it, no color.
Was wanting a garage that just POPPED! Without breaking my bank. I have a 3K budget for the garage and the lift is gonna take 2K.
Still have lighting, cabinets, etc.
So, I think Due to cost I am going with the Valspar garage epoxy and Epoxy-Coat that I already have. I am thinking that because the Valspar is thinner it will penetrate a bit more and make a great primer if I change my mind and go with the 100% solids, or other paints.
I moved away from the expensive locking tiles because I may do that later, but definitely need to get the floor sealed.
What I really want is a deep shine with more than one color.
Thinking of bordering the perimeter with 2 feet wide red (Tile Red) and a 2 feet strip up the middle then fill with white. I may end up filling in the 2 white (Glacier) rectangles with a custom decal or peel an stick checker board tile. who knows. Maybe even 2 black white checker linoleum rectangles.
I used the Valspar before on my wood floor garage. 3 years and Lots of abuse, it held up well, but boring!!
The Valspar colors are kind of dull, no POP as far as I can see
So here are my questions.
1. Has anyone ever gotten a custom color mix outside of the boring choices with any of the VS kits. Maybe a way to brighten them up?
2. If I have the VS as a base and i install peel and stick tile on top, will the Epoxy-Coat seal all of it together? How about a linoleum sheet?
3. Could I just paint regular paint on top of the VS and then seal it all with a poly urethane, or the Epoxy-Coat?
Any help is greatly appreciated. This board helped me decide on the lift to get, now it is the floor.
Thnx to all
John
