John Neeman dropped me an email with the above video. It's just a quick documentary covering the making of one of his axes, but it's so damned beautiful that I had to feature it. There is nothing better than good ole hand made stuff...

I checked their website expecting their pricing to be, like their level of craftsmanship, very high. Turns out they're a bargain, especially the axes and chisels

Bon Iver great musician. The PBS video was truly remarkable. The amount of hours and craftsmanship that the guy put into that sword is amazing. If you can watch that to understand how things were made back then with what was available.

Great to see that we still have skilled craftsman making tools. It will be a sad day when they are gone and everything is mass-produced in a factory.

Video was terrific. I liked the music, but not with the video. Thought that classical music played during battle scenes would be better. Like "O Fortuna":

lotta respect to that guy,i build things with my hands everyday,but that's a whole nother level.black smithing and glass blowing have both always interested me.i've seen some really cool blown glass shows,but i would really love to go to a shop and see it done first hand.

Nice video, but it hardly showed the axe up close after it was finished long enough to really get a good look at it.

I was looking at getting a grunsfors splitting axe for my father n law for christmas (he could use one).
Then this is posted.
Great video. 1000's + more views within a matter of hours of posting on GJ. It could have been a great pre christmas promotion this small enterprise.
But his website says no orders being taken. such a shame.
Nice to make quality unique tools. better to sell them to the world.

Thanls, Ryan for posting this. It is great to see that there is talent out there to still make hand made tools. And their site says that orders went ofer a hunderd very quickly, so they stopped taking orders, probably so they can catch up and keep the quality level up. So the demand is there for beautiful tools.

Go look at his website and check out his prices... That axe he made is just over $200. That's insane to me... I expected it to be much more expensive.

the craftsmanship in these tools are second to none, I doubt that there will ever be any tool manufacturer that will be able to EVER match the quality and craftsmanship of a hand made tool made from a raw piece of steel or wood. I'm asking my buddy about these tools, he lives in europe and I may ask him to get me a couple just to have for conversation. I don't care what your into, BUT the hand made anything is a very quickly dying craft.
