Making Compressor Hanging Brackets

My buddy picked up a couple mini-splits for his garage project and I'm helping him install them.

He wants a clear walkway under the eaves so he doesn't have to step over refrigerant lines, so that got me thinking about hanging the compressors from the wall.

I could buy wall mounts, or I could just make them. My welding skills are at best novice level, but with a bit of grinding they don't look too bad.

Would you go with 3/4" square tubing or 1"? It will be welded into a right angle and then bolted to the wall. Its 163 lbs, plus I probably need to add a little strength for the vibration.

Throw some ideas at me. Its a good excuse to practice mig welding.

Not sure of the other dimensions but I'd use 1" sq x 11gage (~~1/8") wall. Gusset for support. The gussets can go upwards if the brackets can be slightly outboard of the unit, then use cross-tubes for mounting the units.

This is my store bought one. Has a wall mounted crosspiece that each side bracket hangs on. I bought the isolators separate as I was getting wall vibration when it ramped up. It’s a diy which is why the line set is wrapped around it. Make sure you leave enough room between the bracket and wall for air movement and rubber isolators between wall and bracket. Sure would be cool if you added some flair that has to do with your friend like a connecting rod for a brace or whatever he is into

They make them for just about every minisplit condensor ever made. You could still make them and would prob cost less.
