Quick question, I noticed you have no dividing fence between you an you next door and I have seen that on many of the posts on the forum, is that the norm?

Regards..
That 1/2 is what's called here in us as a zero lot line. You'll see them a lot depending on how the city or development make the lot size. My in-laws had it in there place which in only maybe 10 years old. Its a way for the development to put more homes in a area.

Hi Sean. Your vise it to far back on the bench. The back jaw should be just in front of the edge. Then you can clamp long up and down and they will miss the bench. Vise turn out great.

I agree on both parts of the vise. Sean a helpful hint I put 2 pieces of wood in vise clamp it down and push it to wood hits bench. When my vises are not in use I loosen them and swival them out of way until my next use. The reciever hitches are nice addition. I made one with a pipe so I could clamp it down at different angles. Only issue I had with that is positioning a heavy vise at a angle although can do same with a square reciever and a square pipe.

Just 3 days till the baby is due!

I was promoted to the Safety Advisor a few weeks ago so I was hanging up my tools in the garage and I thought that people on here might like to see this HANDY DANDY nail or screw pouch that I use at work or in the garage. It is magnetic and holds really strong to keep your fasteners secure while you are working, without a flap over the top of the pouch.

A few random pics I snapped today:

Not long to go now, both of you enjoy the moment and all the best.

I like the idea of your magnetic pouch I should buy some for the guys at work most of the errant fasteners end up on the ground an invariably into some ones tyres.

Congrats on the promotion as well.

Your shop is looking great too.

Leanne and little Shane are both doing great!!! The three of us are back at home and relaxing! I took a week off of work to spend time with them which Leanne appreciates.

I made this video of the house for my grandma who lives back east and is too ill to travel here... The past few weeks I painted 4 of the rooms, bought some furniture, and had a Piano tuner in to tune up Leanne's pride and joy. We are pretty happy with how the house has turned out after 2 years of making it our own.

Congratulations, Sean! A handsome addition to the Gaskin household. It's good that you could take a week off to give Leanne some time to readjust and for you to bond with your son!

Just read through all of your thread. Great work and you are a busy bee. Congrats on the new addition. As you said your priorities will change a little but before you know it she will be helping you wrench on the cars.

Love you woodshop also. Being able to make organization stuff out of wood is a big help versus having to buy everything premade.

Look forward to you next update.

Congrats to You and Leanne on your new baby boy Shane, Is he gonna be a Oilers fan as well as a car guy? :)

Thanks! I know for a fact he will be a car guy, and he will play hockey as well... He might be a Canucks fan though! :3gears:

He is a strong little man! He holds his head up on his own, and is always busy moving around, kicking, and squirming even when he is sleeping it seems! I am having a blast!

I am working on modifying some ear muffs to protect his little ears while he is in the shop watching me work... I do have a few wood working projects that I am going to attack when I have time... Building some saw horses with a fold up 4x8 top, and also a slat wall cabinet for my friend for a X mass present... The cabinet will be a 4x4 foot slatwall inside and out, should work out really cool!

Here is the little man, just a week old:

Thanks, I enjoy making steady progress. I am glad you like my updates!

The Clareview station is close to our house, small world!

I got a new Safety Advisor job today, so that is always interesting....

I tend to have about 6-10 jobs a year, sometimes as a Journeyman Scaffolder and other times as a Safety Advisor. I do short term jobs, and move onto the next one always chasing the highest paying jobs at the oil refineries and power plants.

I am now working at a Coal fired Generating plant that is shut down for an overhaul... Our company is building 350 vertical feet of scaffolding inside of the boiler, and then Boilermakers are going to repair as needed and then we will remove the scaffolding and leave site for a few years till they shut down again.

I thought I would share a few pictures of where I am currently working:

If you are interested and want to read the text then just right click and save the images to your computer and then you can zoom in on them...

My lifted truck looks TINY compared to one of the trucks they use to haul the Coal to the plant:

Sean,

I just looked through your entire thread. Very nice! I like how you're customizing your garage/work space and making them yours. The small little touches (the shelves you made as a kid, with the models, the custom license plate, etc) really sand out. Also, BIG congrats on your son's birth!

Keep up the good work, oh and nice cars too.
