Today I took 4 inch long eye lag bolts and after pre drilling in 3 stages I tightly inserted them into the doubled up 2x4 wood on my garages then rigged up some hardware all rated for 700 foot pounds which is double my intended load. It only took 5 minutes and for under $50 I have a working solution to get my car in and out of the garage without a winch since the engine is out of the car.

Once it was in the location I wanted it I jacked it up with a floor jack and put the ramps under the front tires and then let it back down on them. Sitting pretty!

I put it inside for tonight and in the morning I will take it back out and work on de-greasing the engine bay, pressure wash under the hood and the underside or the car and then one more de-greasing, pressure wash, marine clean spray, blow down and then the POR 15 on the surface rust and Tremclad outdoor gloss black paint overtop.
The body is rust free, mark replaced the quarters, front clip from a 71, removed the glass, and built it properly.
Yes there is surface rust on the underside of the car and frame. Por 15 will work perfectly.
The paint is going to be 1970 GM Shadow Grey:
I think it will look very good once it is painted! Do you like flat hood hiding the twin turbos???

Found this sturdy old folding table and mounted it to the wall using a 2X4 and lag bolts
Swinging latch:
Got some work done on the Audi.... Fixed a power steering leak... This car hauls ***! 25 PSI on the turbocharged 1.8 with 5 speed manual!
Got the shed partially completed... A lot easier to work in the shed now and no more sawdust in the garage!!!!
Lots of room to store things in the shed when I am not working in there.

I really only started doing woodworking so that I could build better garage cabinets, workbenches, and shelving and I am improving and learning a lot as I go. I can say my woodworking skills are approaching mediocre but with practice I will advance to average in time LOL!!!!
I am excited to get back to working on my Skylark once I get the rest of the garage re-done....
On a related note Leanne is due in about 2 months so I have no time to mess around, I have to get this garage and shed functional... Well on the way though and I am happy with how it is turning out!
Thanks for all the people posting on here, I get so many great ideas from other people's projects!!!

You have got a great setup and have incorporated some really innovative ideas, well done.
Herb Spencer has done a similar shed for all his woodworking and is working well for him, I might just consider some thing like that my self.

I looked on my local used site today and found this Slatwall kit! Asking price was $100 and I took it all for $60, many of the pieces I will not use however I can sell off what I don't want for $5 just to pass on the good fortune.
34 - 12" BRACKETS, 63 - 8" HOOKS, 51 - 6" HOOKS, 48 - 4" HOOKS, 26 - 16" CHROME HANGERS (KNOBS), 6 - 16" BLACK HANGERS (HOOKS), 5 WHITE BASKET SHELVES 24" x 11", 4 - BLACK BASKET SHELVES 24" x 15", 3 GLASS HOLDER SHELVES AND 8 PIECES OF GLASS.

Making progress!!!
I have this corner almost done, except I need to toss out that dresser under the work bench now that I have so much storage up on the walls! Then I can keep my pressure washer, air compressor etc under the work bench. I have all my spray cans easy to get at.
The next area to attack is this wall... Adding a 10 foot long sturdy oak work bench at 43" tall so I can still roll engines under it... Adding a receiver hitch and I have 3 vice mounts to slide in, one for a large Record Vice, one for a bench grinder, and another for a small drill press. The receiver will be at 38" height.
Making more progress in the shed as well. Added a board of Slatwall it made for a lot of storage space:
Made some shovel holders:

A fellow B5 owner! It's unfortunate that you had to remove so much of the bumper cover to fit the FMIC. Good job on the shed. I like what you did with the folding table.

Oh I know, the previous owner made a mess of the intercooler install! I may find another stock bumper and try to make it look better... I bought the car for $1000, as it had a flat tire, broken windshield, interior was a mess, battery dead, etc.... I spent a few days cleaning it up, replaced the windshield which was a first for me, and it turned out the oil level was 2 litres high causing smoking!!! Drained some oil, and the smoke cleared up.... Found these rims and tires for $700 and now for about $1500 plus a lot of detailing time i have a nice little all wheel drive beater for winter so i can park the 2014 mustang gt...

And here is another of the same engine except this one was.
A weak 1974 version that almost doubled its hp with the turbos on low boost. It went from about 150 hp to 300 hp at the crank:
Mine is about 420 hp without the turbos so with boost it should be 700+ hp.... The whole car is built to handle 1000 hp so i have room to grow. This car will idle smoothly and drive nice on the street or highway, but drop the hammer and it will be a violent event!

Well, since I am always seeing all the progress other people are making with their work spaces I am inspired lately to make at least a little bit of progress each day!!!
I orrganized the slatwall a bit and added a sturdy shelf on the wall. Setup the 12' long by 2' deep work bench at 40" from the floor however I am raising it to 43" because I need clearance to roll engines under it. I was thinking about cutting the 2X6 that goes under the bench to increase the clearance under it however then I give up strength so I am raising the whole thing. I am trimming 3" inches off the legs and then adding an adjustable alum. 6" foot to each of the legs.
Added this little setup using some scrap Slatwall that I painted Flat black Rustolium. The paint was still a bit wet in the pics, it no longer looks blotchy
Out in the back yard wood shop I added another shelf 53" by 12" shelf at the upper part of the garage on the left. I need to center it between the supports, but it is 1.5" thick:
Added a drill press:
After adding more storage in the Shed I felt like the garage deserved a huge 4X8 hanging loft over the garage door. I just need to wait till I have a 11" wide by 48" long 3/4" plywood to complete the end:

DUDE, you've been busy!!! Lot of work with lots of small detail work that takes time. Some neat and innovative ideas of how to organize things in a small space. Love the folding table idea.
All this talk about turbos has me anxious to get to the supercharger install into my 54 Century with 3 speed. It's an '55 McCullough out of a 55 Century estate wagon the PO used to pull mobile homes with. Buick on brother.

24 years ago I moved to NC from Canada, we lived in a single wide trailer with a little metal shed and a covered porch....12 years ago we built a 1700 sq ft house with a 2 car garage attached and this month 12 years later I started my 24x24 shop in the back yard....takes time but eventually you can get what you want....sometimes it's priorities....I wanted a big touring Harley, got that, paid for now,,,after the garage and I okay for my 2012 Ford Flex I will get me a new to me truck.....I will be 50 in January and to me these are all milestones in my life and to some it ain't **** but to me it makes he feel good.

I still have WAY more work to do, however I am pretty satisfied with how it is looking so far... 1000% more storage shelving, more floor space, and a total of 24 feet of workbench/table length where before I had none.
I still need to bolt down my medium sized vice to the bench...
I got 3 vice receiver hitch setups in the mail today for $30 each, and I have 3 receivers to mount them in, so that is one of the next projects. Picked up a Dewalt bench grinder/wire wheel combo (used for $50) so that will go on one, and the large Record vice will go on one... Not sure what I will mount on the third, but no doubt I will find something to mount on there... I will switch them out as needed.

Now I can store engines underneath and it keeps floor space clear for walking around and working. I still need to re-organize this area however this gives you an idea of what I was going for with this workbench idea. As you can see even with the engines just rolled under temporally the plan seems to work well:

Just a quick update after re-arranging the engines a bit, much more out of the way now... Rotated the engine that is on the floor sideways, and that got it out of the way...

Well, sometimes the projects that we take on are not really something we look forward to.... Things like yard work, and assembling furniture are not something we look forward to...
These pics show the progress I have made in the past 48 hours:
Removed the interior of the Skylark, getting ready to re-wire the car then install fat mat sound deadening, new carpet, and interior back in.
Put the interior above the garage door in the new loft area.
De-greased the engine bay of my 45 year old muscle car. I took it out into the driveway and used poly to protect the driveway... Used simple grean with a 1:1 mix, some elbow grease and the pressure washer. A bit more prep needed before painting the engine bay. No show car, but it will look good. No power steering, power brakes or AC, the only option is Twin Turbos LOL!
The show must go on, and before turbochargers I need to do the dirty work...
Wire wheeled and painted the underside and frame of the work truck...
The hidden sub-woofer keeps the beat going and the progress flowing!
A few random vice pictures, neither of them bolted down yet, still trying to sort out where they will go:
Bought and assembled this two wheel wheelbarrow and I am really happy with it... $144 at Canadian tire but worth every penny with the task of adding rocks beside my house:
Emptied this full trailer of rocks tonight with my neighbor but we need to get another load:

Worked 9 hours at work and then.....
The spare tire for my work truck was not staying put in the back of my truck so I came up with this prototype for a metal version. Built with 2x4s I can tweak this design before I have a friend make up a nice solid unit with the 1"X1" angle iron that is 1/4" thick... I have 25 feet of it for various reasons, one of which being for a rack for clear tray containers...
Bought a used Makita:
Added a top to a lower cabinet...
Added two power bars to the main bench:
Added a 3" deep shelf 6.8" over the main workbench:

Used some chrome slatwall shelf brackets, some ready-rod, and some S hooks to hang two bikes. It is very sturdy and light, weight:
Cleaned up the medium sized vice, still not sure where to mount it:
Some parts I need for my tablesaw table that will feature a 30" height to match my portable work stations and move like a wheelbarrow with two adjustable feet on one end and two wheels on the other end, should be slick... It will roll right under the chop saw table when not in use:
