Found 4 oak/glass hanging doors on alum tracks for $25. Trimmed two to close off in front of the bar and installed the other two on the side. I also framed up the wall beside the doors but forgot to snap a pic. Will make it pretty soon but it’s roughed in.

Unloaded my new 6 foot tall safe! I think it weighs about 1200 pounds or more. It is a real antique! I have the alarm setup, motion activated cameras send video to my phone if anyone walks up to the garage door. 12 cameras, Lorex makes a good system, got another kit installed at our main house too. New renter moved in, all is well!:3gears:

The guy I bought the steel welding table from had a cool I beam setup for lifting stuff and I was very impressed with this little Warn 120V hoist. The steel table is about 600 pounds and it lifted it no problem. I will buy one I think:

https://www.4wheelparts.com/Winches...MI3PeO9bXz1wIVDp1-Ch2u3Av1EAQYASABEgIWBfD_BwE

Shane loves winches so we tested the 8000 pound Warn winch in the garage... This is what I used to pull the safe onto the trailer, had the engine hoist in case I needed it but the winch was enough... it is handy having this winch to use wherever I need it. The winch on the front of my truck is nice but having a second one comes in handy for sure. He would sit in the sled on a dolly and winch himself in

Just dropping by and may as well wish you and yours a Merry Christmas as knowing me, no telling when I might be back around. Dang, that Shane Buick is growing, aren't kids a lot of fun. Got you another turbo I see. If you get good at them I might let you install the old McCuliough Supercharger on my '54 Century some day. I know they work on a little different principal but shouldn't be a problem for you. New addition to the garage is looking good, like those heavy duty doors. Keep up the good work. Tell the boys Uncle Buick said hi and be good so Santa will come see them.

Great to hear from you! All is well!!! We keep busy as you do...

I need to do some insulating in the crawl space at the little house, so I loaded up on 4” EPS insulation ($40 for all) I Found these 6 locking metal cabinets for $40 for all of them, cool! I also nabbed these electric infrared heaters for a good deal ($75 each) too... I also setup a cool picture frame from old headlight bezels.

Well, not all projects are fun but the tough ones really pay off.... The crawlspace/basement at the little house has always been a little chilly when it is -30 F out so I installed 92 pieces of 4 inch thick insulation custom cut to fit. I do not want the pipes to freeze down here so this is a big help. I put an infrared heater down there, set to turn on if it gets too cold but it was toasty down there today (outside temp 32 degrees F). T shirt weather!~:3gears:

A few more pics of how I was cutting the insulation. I used my skill saw then broke the pieces off, worked perfect.... Then my trusty old handsaw custom fit each one like a glove. A little bit of the low expanding window spray foam for the cracks and it was a wrap. Literally spent all day working on the insulation but got it licked.

At lunch time I went over 500 feet to my friends shop and had a look at his new toy... I have driven in it and it is fun!

Ever seen a 75 Regal used as a security devise in front of a garage door? Parked it here to no one can even access the storm door.

I wish I took pics of the closed in patio bar, I made progress on that today too... I am still searching for the right antique window to add to it but it is all closed in. :dunno:

Merry Christmas, everyone, thanks for posting your good work to inspire us to do our own. Also, for posting about things that we wouldn't want to duplicate, so we can avoid those pitfalls!

Seeing the re-used building materials like doors of various types, it's pretty-much impossible to do that in Florida, because of the stringent nature of the Florida Building Code. The impact requirements for things like doors and windows means that used ones now go to recycling or the dump.

'sreno,' in your avatar, is that a Thunderbolt replica? I recall when they were first running the strips, one of the first factory drag-centric cars. Then came the A-FX cars, the acid-dipped bodies, aluminum engine blocks from Can-Am, 'back-door' factory support, etc.

Keep up the good work, Sean and Happy Holidays to you and yours!

You should still show it in °C, because most people outside the US use that lol

I didn't plug in my duramax the other day either and it was a low of -15 overnight. Started right up! The duramax starts better than my TDI in the cold actually. Quite surprising to me, being the first duramax I've owned (and then stuffed into a suburban)

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Sean!

I just caught up after being away for too long. Man, do I feel lazy now...

Here's a tip:

That bed is too low. If you make a bed 2.5 to 3 feet above the floor, you can store engines under it.

(Yeah... I spent years with an engine under my bed.)

Some progress today... Used my engine crane to locate the 1200 pound safe into the cube... built a stainless workbench. Some new tools. Pressure washer with soap dispenser and 100 foot hose! Big generator as I do not have 220V in the garage yet. Two welders, things are coming together.

Ever feel like a tool is taking up more space than you would like? This old Radial arm saw and it’s huge table are handy for notching beams and a few other things but I only use it once in a while. It was taking up almost half of one of my sheds so I got fed up and tried to sell it... I couldn’t get much $ for it so I put it put to pasture so to speak. Years ago I learned that Pam looking spray works amazing to protect bare metal and keep it from rusting, so I sprayed it down and built a shed for it. Will make swing out doors and metal sides when I have a chance but at least it’s covered. We live in a dry climate, so hopefully the saw will survive till I can design a solar heating setup to keep it warm (half joking)..

I snapped a few pics of the covered patio. I need to add siding at the top part, it will cover the alum track, and stain the plywood but I’m happy with it. The renter loves it. Just too cold to stain so I’m doing other stuff for now.

My dad bought me this awesome alum cutting guide it works perfectly... Built shelving for the tenant.

Excuse the mess the whole garage is a disaster!!! But it must get worse before it gets better so onward! Wow the one pic inside the cube sure makes the shelf look crooked, it’s not but the pic sure plays tricks on the mind. Now that the shelving is done in the cube I just need to add one steel cabinet above the stainless bench and some more little storage ideas but it feels like it’s finally almost functional in the cube! I built the 3 foot deep by 8 foot wide shelf nice and sturdy and one of the pics shows it before I added re enforcements so you can see how I designed it. I’m happy, it’s solid and functional. The 1 foot deep by 8 foot shelf was built close to the safe so that no one can roll it out if they broke in. There is still enough room to open the door to get things in and out. I’m going on a bit of a security kick and trying to get things as secure as possible. Speaking of wich I got 6 of these 14 foot long metal ramps and decided to use one on each door as a locking device until I can build a more permanent solution. Using the ramps for some cool projects you will see more of them soon.

Sean, just spent the morning going through your thread. Must say I'm really impressed with your scavenging skills and even more with your ability to take on most any project and make the outcome look like a pro did it!! Keep up the good work!

I really appreciate the kind words Swanny! I really try hard to do my best!! I have never been accused of being lazy lol!

I am getting some stuff done, setting up shelving in the cube, that is going well!

I found 2 more cubes for FREE, but not sure if I want to trailer them home as I don’t want the yard too cluttered. Who am I kidding, I will likely go get them lol!

Here is the score of the day! $35 the pics are from the add:

Thanks Ric it was only -15 today so I didn’t bother turning the heaters on in the garage... 6 hours put there, just kept busy and didn’t feel cold. Compared to -40 it really feels warm now!!

Going to get this workbench tmrw for $25, the guy said bring a few friends this thing is heavy and he has a bad back and can’t help load it... You guys know me well enough that I will load it by myself while he scratches his head lol! I just laughed and said oh yeah don’t worry super strong! Lol 150 pounds of solid muscle 😂
