Has anyone ever witnessed the "make an offer" instantly accept your offer? What I mean is the seller didn't even review it. I just bought a NEW Snap On F80 for $40 and it was instant. I submitted the offer and BOOM! Makes me wonder whether I should have offered lower. Hmmmmn.

I have had instant rejections. The seller probably has a "reserve" on the make offer. I have never sold via the "make offer". I like the BIN.

I've run into both. The ones that irratate me are the ones where they set the "make offer" threshhold to like $1.00 less the BIN... Why even bother??

I made an offer once and the seller gave me a counteroffer that was 5 bucks below his asking price...

People that list this way do not know how the ebay fee structure works. A true auction on ebay will cost a 9% selling fee. The BIN selling fee is 15%. they would actually make quite abit less if someone used the BIN.

I've made quite a few offers and all were instantly rejected (which means they were not actually reviewed by the seller). These were on a wide range of items from many different sellers.

If you make three offers on an item, the system prevents you from making further offers on the same item.

While making offers, I started at a lower, but still fair price. My offers were rejected even up to a few dollars less than the "buy it now" price.

When you list an item with BIN/Best Offer, you have the option to automatically accept/reject offers that are over/under a certain amount. I usually automatically accept anything that's within 10% of my BIN.

What amazes me more is how many times I'll list an item with BIN/Best Offer and the buyer just buys it without bothering to make a lower offer... I can understand it if it's something that's a few dollars but I've had a few things that were over $100.

I have mixed feeling about BINs more so the ones with or make offer. I have gotten two sales at a good price both just before the sale was ending, but most seem to have crazy prices. I don’t like to officially make an offer and as I don’t like committing money when I may find something else which is a better deal, so I just email my offer if it isn’t the last day. I get annoyed seeing the same BINs on used items at outrages price for months even years on eBay.

I just purchased a new large size SO combo wrench with an offer/instant accept, total with shipping was under $20 [$60+ from SO]. It was a new listing too. I once got an SO 3/8 dr box-set with an instant accept for $100 off BIN price which made it less than the low-end going rate. I was very suprised and... I had to buy it!

I just bought a FL80, SL80 and a TL72 from the same seller a few nights ago. I noticed he had just listed them so I went a little nuts with buying 3. He even gave me a little more than he normally would ($25) off the SL80 because I bought the other 2! shipping to Canada was high but the total was around 50% of truck price+tax (truck prices are a little higher in Canada for some reason or another) so I think I got a pretty good deal.

I've only used the "make an offer" once. The seller sold a bar mirrors. Different brands of beer and different size mirrors. What I did was to look at his feedback and see what the lowest price he would accept for a certain size mirror. I made an offer for the lowest price in his history and it was accepted. I was happy with the outcome.

It can happen. I know because I just did one recently. It was the seller with the 2 and then total of 4 Snap-On chess sets. A GJ member bought one with a $250 offer when the BIN was $295 and then posted a heads up here. I checked it out and figured only one left so I did BIN at $295. I was accepted and then the seller added a third and then a fourth, probably all below $295.

This is the seller that offers all the hi-quality SO like drawer liner, so I sent him an email, asking if there was any consolation prize for being the only **** to pay full price, and asked for some drawer liner (4 rolls usually $27) and he said "Sure!".

It's been hit and miss with best offers for me. Usually it's instant decline. I usually send low offers hoping to meet somewhere in the middle, it's worked out that way a couple times, every now and then someone accepts the low offer.

One time someone was selling something for $190. An auction for a similar item ended a couple weeks prior for $130 so I offered $120. Instant decline, he emails me saying he'll go as low as $170. I would have done $150. He accepted someone else's offer for $140 though. His lost, I won another as an auction less than a week later for just under $150 w/ cheaper shipping.

The only thing that might make sense it that the buyer thought the BIN was fair, and didn't want to submit a best offer and risk losing the item to someone else in the meantime.

I had a pleasant one today. I had a nice vintage RC car that was in a big box of mixed stuff that I got at an auction. I thought it might be worth $100. I listed it starting at $99 with no reserve, half expecting to get no bids.. figured I'd gauge interest and relist it starting lower if needed.

I got a bid in the first hour and a little later, the bidder emailed me and asked if I'd switch it to a BIN for $175.

The last offer I made was on some rusty old sockets. The guy had a crazy price on them ($300), I offered $50. He declined as expected. That was 3 months ago. The tools have been listed and re-listed ever since. There is zero chance they will sell @ the $300 this guy is asking. There is also zero chance he will take my $50 :)
