Making pole extension for pole saw

I just bought a used Remington DPS1 Branch Wizard Pole Saw. I expected this to be a piece of cwap since they sold for $99 new. I paid $38 cause I need to remove quite a few branches and I figured it was a fair risk. Turns out the thing cuts through maple limbs like butter. I think the reason they got rid of it was that they used it a while and then took the blade off and replaced it backward. Suddenly it didn't cut any more.
Anyway, the pole on it is 7ft long. I would like to extend the pole an extra 7 feet (maybe 10). My question is, do I need to make any special considerations regarding the electrical aspects? Specifically, do I need heavier wire?

I wouldn't see an issue strapping the head onto a longer pole with an extension cord. That's pretty much what it is. The biggest issue is that you'll need a very strong pole to make it work.

The owner’s manual says you can use up to a 100 ft extension cord with 16 ga. wire. For 150 ft, upgrade to 14 ga. cord.

Thanks for your replies. I was concerned that maybe there would be a reason to take the internal wiring into account. But I guess it makes sense that its just a cord on a motor.
