Making some progress

Cost overruns abound, but I'm in "damn the torpedoes" mode at this point.

Trusses arrive tomorrow, sheathing Saturday.

Me too. I'm 53 and have drawn out plans for an addition to my garage 100 times over the last 23 years. I told my wife I'm already drawing up plans for the addition to the addition!

Thanks. I had intended to hire the framing/roof, but spent too much on drainage, foundation, etc so I pulled my uncle and dad out of retirement. At 80 and 73 they're some hard working dudes.

I'm not suggesting you don't know what you're doing. There was a build thread on here a few years ago where the OP was setting trusses on some tall framed walls with only 2x diagonal bracing. I made the same comment to him. He shrugged it off, as did several other posters, saying that bracing was sufficient. The day after the last truss went up the whole frame collapsed. The OP mentioned he was putting in an insurance claim and the entire thread suddenly disappeared. Good luck with your project.

No worries. Didn't take it that way. There is no doubt I don't know what I'm doing, but I have a couple guys with lots of experience making sure I don't screw up too badly!

Oh yeah...after a decade off from working on mine (economy), I'm hoping to get started again in the spring. I too am 53, and my new standard is, if it'll last 25 years, I'm beyond caring after that. Just get it done.
