Hi All,

I am in the market for a new cordless drill/impact kit. Want a sub-compact 12v platform because I don't need all of the snot of 18v or 20v nor the added size and weight. I find the 12v Li-Ion does awesome.

I am partial to the Makita, specifically the CT232 kit on Black Friday sale for $99. The brushless 12v kit is a bunch more, like $160 or $170. Again, seems the non brushless get it done very well.
Do you guys agree with the CT232 for $99 or brushless for $170... OR the Milwaukee 12 offer or the 18v offers? please share your thoughts.

Last question: Are there different "grades" of tools within a brand/family? Like good, better best all being the 12v drill/impact kits?

Thank you very much. Indexmill.

I consider the M12 Fuel drill/driver something I would pick up if I didn't have them in M18 already. I haven't picked up my corded Milwaukee hole shooter in a long time.

Also, the stubby M12 impact in 3/8 or 1/2 look really handy.

A Surge driver is a poor impact gun for mechanical work. But it is a smooth and nice driver of fasteners into wood. You can get non-Surge. The drill in your kit can be hammer, or not.

With Milwaukee, I bide my time and research deals. They are constantly doing something, see the thread on here. Once you have an M18 charger, it charges M12 too.

Enjoy your new kit.

Milwaukee.

I was a Makita customer since 1992 until 20016. I switched because I was dissatisfied with their batteries turning into bricks and Makita offered no support which chapped my hide since I bought tons of tools from them over the years.

I have both the 12v & 18v fuels and am very satisfied with them. They took selection is also impressive as well.
