As the title says I have a Makita 18V Charger question. My DC18RC charger gave up the ghost. I have in my possession though 2 MT7218 chargers. Except for a few indicator features I haven't been able to locate a difference between the 2 (DC18RC vs MT7218) and Google isn't helping as much. Can I use the MT7218 for charging or do I need to purchase another DC18RC?

Yes, its intended for 18v LXT batteries.
Would I use it? No. I’m not interested in risking my investment on a generic charger.
I would buy the OEM charger.
If you don’t need the rapid charge, the DC18SD model can be had cheap, it’s just slow (which isn’t a bad thing for the battery longevity) and lacks a fan.

Ayuh,.... If the battery slides on, 'n it's 18v, use it,.....

I've got several makita charges, at the house, at the shop, at the Bil's, 'n one in my pickup,....
I've collected 'em over the years when buyin' various tools, several vintages,....
Though the one for the power point in the pickup, I went "Lookin' for",....
18 volt lith-ion is 18 volt lith-ion,....

Not good advice.
You're implying that the charging components in the cheap knockoff models are the same as OEM. :wtf:
Even the OEM first gen teal DC18RA is inferior to the black DC18RC in that the newer model communicates with individual cells/cell balancing.
