I had mentioned in another thread that I have many LXT tools which perform great to excellent, except for this grinder. Another GJ'er mentions having siliar issues.
The grinder cuts out to easy, especially when you have a grinding wheel, just touch the surface and it cuts out. I chucked it in a drawer and always grab the corded, this grinder was too frustrating to use.
I was at an open house of a local tool store and they had various MFR reps, including 2 Makita reps that told me this fuse/relay protector is sort of defective.
If I bring it to a Makita Service center (actual Makita, not authorized retailer to get it done free) they will remove it at no charge and it will work fine.
So I went and got it back today, took a day to do and it works much better. The guy at the service center threw in the caveat that nothing is protecting it from burning the motor. I'll take my chances as it had become un-useable.
For anyone in the US with similar frustrations, see what Makita USA says. I am sure they know this grinder is a lemon with this cut-off switch and should take it out. Even if they charge, the guy at my Makita service center said it would be a $15-$17 service if they charged me, well worth it.
