Makita 2708 WORTH KEEPING? CAN IT BE MADE BETTER?

Hi all, I wanted to add this to an existing thread but figured that would not be cool. As a first time posting.

Is it worth upgrading my Makita 2708. The on switch is sticky/stubborn, the fence @#$% and the table is small. I think I out grew this thing.
By perhaps, always a sharp blade and adding an extension table and/or a router to that table would do the trick.( Although I do not know how to use a router and have a very old old old hardly used Rockwell)
Is it worth throwing money at it?

I put myself a notch above beginner- a homeowner/novice? Besides from doing maintenance, projects and home improvements, most of the work I do revolves around fabricating frames for my paintings (my job). I make very simple picture frames and I think using a simple rabbet bit would do me well. I saw a video (ibuildit ) and the guy used a router table. LOOKED SO EASY Perfect, clean fast so this might improve efficiency and quality.

But with table saw.
DO I Buy a new saw? or upgrade this one?

I should have bought an extension table for the 2708 way back when but now it seems silly. Buying a new fence and/or an extension table that comes with that bigger and better fence means spending $300 – $500 bucks. Solves many of my problems but I might as well get a new saw? Can’t just get any craigslist fence since it has to fit my saw.

New saw:
Which one and how much should I spend? I don’t think I need a $1000 saw. But I don’t want ****. I don’t want to be in the same position – unhappy with the lack of accuracy of the fence.

If anyone has ANY suggestions I’m all ears. Also about the Router addition.
