This sounds like a terrible place to try and save money.

Makita chargers are the best in the world, no one else except Metabo actively cools the battery pack while charging. They have a fan that pushes air into the pack that cools each cell while it charges, and they ramp the charge current to take cell temperature in account. I doubt your knockoff charger has either of these abilities; whatever money you save in charger cost, I bet you'll fork over 10x that replacing dead batteries.

Knock yourself out then.

I'd get a used charger way before I'd ever consider a knockoff.

Check the usuals, Ebay and Amazon. There has gotta be some cheap OEM out there.

Just a quick search shows:

Ebay avg - $35 shipped
Amazon used avg- $35 shipped
Generic new - $35 shipped
