I'm considering to purchase a Makita 6407 3/8 corded drill. Does anybody know the COO for these Makita tools ? I haven't been able to look at one locally in a store. Thanks

I have 3 Makita drills. All of them are made in China. All the Makita drill models I have viewed in stores are made in China.

On the net there are some 5" grinders with the COO being Australia.

On their site they say,
" Makita manufactures its power tools and other products at plants in Japan, Brazil, Canada, China, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States."

Somewhere else I found a statement saying that 28% of the tools come from China.

I don't think they want us to know.

All over the place. I have Chinese and Japanese made Makita stuff. I do believe the 5/8 hammer drill that Home Depot sells is made in USA.

Well I did buy the makita 6407 and was extremely pleased to see that its "Assembled in USA". I am very happy with that, and think I made a wise purchase. Great drill by the way, very high quality.

No Chinese junk for me if I can avoid it at all costs.

Working from memory, Makita has a plant in Georgia, where they turn out 70 different models of power tools, and they have already cranked out 10 of millions from that plant since it opened. Kubota builds their tractors in Georgia as well, I dont think most know that. Not all the tractors they sell here but a good deal of them.

On another forum, somebody was trying to track down a COO USA 1/2" drill, I found it for him, just not made by an American Company.

Kind of like Toyota, last I checked, they built the 7 out of the 10 most American cars, built in the USA. That is to say, the content % was higher than the rest, as well assembled here, but not an American comapany. I think they held the top spot too,..which is really sad, and no, I dont own a toyota !, and Im not a toyota fan. But Im not blind either.
