the 2P4M SCR Thyristor 400V 2A NEC transistor blew in my Makita quick charger so I got on off ebay and put it in and thought I would share the process

the charger

the inside

the new 2p4m in place redy to solder in

the old one that blew apart

note the thermal paste ,it is a must have

the back side ,you can see where the board got hot

just before I soldered it into the board

then just snip off the pins

put her back together and boom bod'a bing

I got the 2p4m on ebay for 2 bucks ,the thermal paste was another 2 bucks,so all in all not to bad

I have that same charger for a reciprocating jig saw. was just about to toss it since it quit working last week until I saw this post. THANKS!! I will definitely pull apart and see if I have the same problem before trashing it...
