So I noticed the Matco 1/4 inch impact looks an awfull lot like the makita in a different color....does that mean if I buy a makita impact/ drill (12v) will the batteries interchange with my Matco 12v ratchet? No one has the smaller makita stuff in the shop so I can try. And why doesn't makita offer a ratchet?

Not the same product. Professional Tool Products manufactures the cordless tools for Matco to Marco design and specs.

I have the Makita 12V cordless drill / driver / circular saw. It was originally 10.8V but they switched the branding to 12V to keep up with everyone else.

I don't think the batteries will directly interchange. The Makita battery base is a rounded triangle and the latches are on the flats. The Matco battery has a round base with the latches on the side.
