This is one of my favorite tools in the drawer, enough so that I just ordered a second one. I’ve had my old GV5000 for almost 20 years and it hasn’t missed a beat. I use it extensively for metal work, it’s a little finer than an angle grinder but does a great job cleaning up edges. When I worked at a marina I used it for fiberglass work. The $79 price isn’t spectacular, but it’s been ranging for $89 for a while now. Home Depot stopped carrying it in the stores recently, so I figured I should buy a spare.

I am trying to talk myself into buying one but I dont see any advantage over a angle grinder?

It a finer tool with better control than an angle grinder, but it can still do significant work. I use it for things I’d use an angle grinder with a flap wheel for.

Okay I bought one and I want to like it but does anybody make an adaptor to use standard discs with a 7/8" hole?
If I'm limited the discs that Makita offers it may be going back.

I was hoping to use some discs I already have but I did find that the Makita discs are only a buck a piece when buying 25 at a time. I can live with that.
