I don't know of anyone that makes a real cheap set.
It would be nice if Craftsman made a set, but there kind of a specialized item and there is not that much demand for them.

I have these:
http://buy1.snapon.com/catalog/item...id=259&supersede=&store=snapon-store&tool=all

You may be able to find them on ebay for less than the S-K set .

If you are mostly just dealing with the external plugs then you can just get a set of 8 point sockets and sears would be a good place to get those cheap.

In a pinch you can just use an extension for the internals.
If it is the same as your drive size then you dont have to do anything.
If not then you could just take a cheap taiwan extension to the bench grinder to get it to fit properly.

I dont think that is a bad price for that S-K set.
Brand new and made in the USA for $79.....not bad at all.

I have always just used a open end on the external ones and an extension end on the internal ones.

I never knew they made those things.

They've been around forever. The 1930s Duro set I just sold had them.

I use 8pt. sockets and square keystock if an extension won't fit, although some of those really small size sockets would be more convenient

take it u never encountered a extreamly tight one some jackass probally used a impact on before u got it. cause sockets tend to rounds corners off and never tried keystocks
