Well fellas, I gotta post this thread just so I can tell some people who might care...I've tried telling my buddies, my wife, my dad...none of them are into old tools, especially my wife, so none of them are as excited and pleased as I am...

Alright, so it all started out with a really crappy, grainy photo on one of those selling apps of what *appeared* to be a Walker-Turner jointer on an original stand. I was about 99% sure it was a WT and I was about 90% sure it was an original stand, but the photo was such **** that I couldn't be certain. It just so happens that I'm currently restoring a WT jointer and wasn't even holding out the slightest hope of finding an original stand, but when this popped up I started to get pretty excited.

So I reached out to the seller and set-up a time to meet up. When I get there I'm able to confirm that is, in fact, a WT and an original stand. Furthermore he's also got a WT belt sander/disc sander and a Delta 900 Radial Arm Saw. So I ask him if they are all for sale and they are. A short time later we struck a deal and for less than two bills all of these items came home with me.

Seems to be missing the original armed blade guide and fence:

Missing the workpiece stop table belt:

Sorry gents, don't mean to be a braggart, but I am pretty excited and not one person I know gives a **** :lol_hitti

The sander might use the same table for belt and disc. Mine does.

My granddad has the same delta radial saw in the back of the shop. My dad and uncle uses his shop to build cabinets. I believe they replace that delta with a newer nicer 12" delta radial

Oh you mean like THIS one?!

I've retrofitted some extension wings from an old Homecraft table saw and replaced the wooden fence with an aluminum one so she cuts straight now. Love this saw.

Thanks kindly! I've never had a RAS, but since it was basically thrown in for the deal I decided I'd have to give it a try. From my very brief reading on the saws, this Delta model is well regarded, but apparently a little underpowered. I don't cut anything too thick though, so I reckon I'll manage!

Roger that! I'm thinking since the sander is relatively rare and still in good shape, I'll probably just clean it up well and get it in good running order before coating the whole thing in a light coat of BLO and sitting it under a heatlamp for awhile to cure the BLO. I have no problem restoring things to as-new (or close as reasonably possible), but when they are in good, original shape, I tend to try to just clean and preserve.

Thank you all for the kind words! FINALLY some people who can be excited for my treasure haul

Did the soda can cause the stain or did the wily seller put it on top of the stain to hide it for the photo?

Great score!!!!! B-E-A-Utiful old table saw!!!

Thank you, I love the saw. She was pretty rough when I got her, but has cleaned up nicely. Great cutting little thing. I've been looking for some original extension wings for awhile and have yet to find any - I think they are exceedingly rare.

Neat stuff. I don't think I've ever seen a Walker-Turner belt sander before, they must be pretty uncommon.

Same here! I didn't know they even made any so I hadn't been looking for one. I got especially lucky to find one with an original stand and motor!

Did the soda can cause the stain or did the wily seller put it on top of the stain to hide it for the photo?

I haven't looked at it too closely yet, but I think that stain is actually just spilled coca-cola or grease from an oil can.

A good buy, I’m learning that a dollar a pound seems to be the going rate for good old machines...[emoji106][emoji38]

I think it depends on the machine really...I've paid considerably more for some items and a pittance for others. I think it really comes down to whether the seller knows what they have or if they just want to unload some "old rusty junk".

That WT cast iron stand is the prize of the lot.

Well, it's not cast iron, it's stamped steel. I wish it was the cast iron one, but I'm certainly not complaining considering my luck at this point :)

I have a WT table saw with the wings, stand, switch, motor (double shaft). It is for sale or trade. Also Craftsman or Champion branded drill press, wood lathe, jointer, all WT. Where are you located? I am in Virginia.

One of my radial arm saws is a Delta-made Penncraft. I love it. The other is a DeWalt. I much prefer the radial arm saws to the table saw. Much more versatile, and can do almost everything the table saw can do.

I'm in Dallas. Can you post a picture of the WT table saw?

I have yet to decipher the secret to posting pictures here, after being a member for years! I get confused every time I try.

Couple ways to do it. If you have them on your or phone it's really simple:

Press Reply (if you start your reply in the box at the bottom of the thread, select "Go Advanced")
Select the Paper Clip icon in the menu above
Navigate to the photo on your PC or phone
Select the photo (s)
Select upload.
Once complete, select close on dialog box
Enter desired text in text box
Press "Submit Reply"

Boom, there ya go.

S/F,

-Matt
