Take possession of my little shack next month so already planning the garage build in the spring.

Figure 24x24 will put me JUST over the max the city will allow on my lot. It will be pushed over as close as I want to the property line to allow for max room on the open side to allow for a sun filled deck.

I figure open side will give 6' from shop to fence. Not a lot but I don't care. House to garage be about 10'.

2 9x8 doors spaced apart 18".

One bay will be left empty in the front of it for workspace on the truck otherwise toy (quad, I hopin I can squeeze this still on its trailer into the side yard. Or some dirt bikes). Everythin in my garage now is either elevated or on wheels.

Other bay be more for my shorter off-road bronco, box and a half as well built in workbench etc.... It be more the work area.

Now since you got the layout,
would you place the man door 32-36" wide roughly 6' back on the side door to allow for corner storage of said toys?
Front corner towards the house, more so a straight shot from the deck off the kitchen, and allow max interrupted wall space along all 3 walls?

Or move it to smack dab between the middle of the head wall, seperating work space from storage space and allowing for corner storage space.

Don't have the layout.

Need sketch and photos.

Can you go bigger if you attach it?

On the side(s) that are at the setback lines you can pour a slab to the property line, install a double man door and a retractable awning and have covered outdoor workspace. This can allow you to move tools on mobile bases, out and in to enlarge your inside workspace while working on a project too.

I did a similar build a few years ago, same size. i put the walk in door towards the house about 3' in from the corner. I then put shelving behind the door. I feel I got double use out of the space because wherever the door is that space needs to be open, the shelves also require an ope space in front to be able to use them. I also built truss rafters like these,

I installed an aluminum pull down ladder to the loft in side the garage and a small door in the end toward the alley. I store seasonal stuff in the loft and it really gives me a lot of almost free extra room.

There's a small shed that's coming with the property that's immediately getting moved to an inconspicuous spot in the front corner. Not smack dab in the middle of the traffic pattern.

I can only post from my iPhone so sketches I will have to figure out.

I am leaning to front wall one way or another as its more secure for motion sensor lights over the side yard. My master bedroom is at the back of the house, closest to the garage.

I did upgrade my package so far to better insulated garage doors and. 2x6 rafters for storage up top. Seasonal **** get swapped out, christmas tree etc.

Check your zoning rules.

You may NOT be allowed 2 accessory structures.

Are you using trusses or joists and rafters?

A 2x6 spanning 24' won't support much besides itself, even in a truss.

Are you planning on a finished ceiling?

What is the planned roof pitch?

Insulating and heating?

Yes we are allowed 2 possibly more. My best friends dad had an attached single, 2 sheds, 24x24 then added 10x20 onto that.

It's a full workshop for me to enjoy. It will be fully insulated(even under the slab) walls and trussed ceiling sheeted with drywall or the like.

Pitch just be the standard pitch.
