What sealant should I use under the threshold when I installed a new man door in my garage? The threshold will be sitting on cement. Should I still use threshold tape even though it's going on cement?
Thanks
Todd

I replaced the man door in my garage a few years ago. I run a snow blower through the door in the winter and the threshold on the previous door was not sealed down and was floppy. This time I set the threshold with Sikaflex 15LM. The sill is solid as a rock.

I wouldn't use silicone for anything, not when there is much better caulking. You won't find it on my property. Sikaflex for example blows away silicone. Where I used to work we sold Boss brand caulking. It was good stuff too! The polyurethanne based sealants are much better than silicone as are many of the other engineered sealants.

Metal threshold?

I used a Thick bead of 100% silicon (clear exterior grade) when I installed my door (metal threshold on to concrete)

Never had a leak or an issue

Yes metal (Aluminum) threshold. I have installed a couple doors before but never on concrete only on wood.

Frankly -- I don't think it much matters. Just make sure to place the one or two lines back from the front edge, You want it behind the rear edge of the brick moulding. Any water that gets around the brick moulding needs to flow out and under the trim. You don't caulk along the front and over onto the bottom of the brick moulding.

All buildings get wet === they need to dry. When you caulk the bottom you lock in the water. The brick moulding should just sit above the concrete so no water wicks in (paint the bottom). Caulk the inside to seal the air
