I was sorting through some items I recently acquired and found these. The former owner once worked at Hughs aircraft many many moons ago if that helps. So what are these and the application.

At the ens of each one is a fractional range stamped in. The same end has a center drill and two flat spots machined in like for a wrench. The opposite end has internal threads. The tapered collet slides freely along the shaft. The box is stamped steel so I don't think this set is terribly old. The set also has steel rings of different diameters. Any help would be appreciated.

The full eight piece set with different size rings all in a stamped metal box in a wrinkle black finish.

One end of each tool body is a "Made In the USA", a fractional range with two flat spots and center drilled perhaps for mounting in a lathe center.

The other end of each tool has internal threads.

Each tool has a dedicated tapered collar that slides freely and has knurls.

Any help would be much appreciated.

They are pilots for adjustable reamers. Commonly used on spindle bushings and other places to ream two bushings in line.

Thanks for the reply!
Can you please elaborate more on the application? I don't understand how a adjustable reamer applies to the tool.

Thanks again!

They screw onto the threads of the adjustable reamer. You slide the tapered part off, insert the reamer into the bushing, then slide the tapered part back on the extension, bringing the taper into contact with the opposite end of the bushing. This holds the reamer in line with the bushing bore(s) so the reamer will "line bore" concentric with the bore.
