My 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP sometimes surges at cruise. Occasionally it will throw a MAP sensor code. Would Mass Airflow Sensor cleaner be ok to try on the MAP sensor. I'd prefer To try something before shelling out the money for a new sensor. The engine is turbocharged. Thanks in advance.

MAP works differently than MAF and dirt shouldn't be a problem - so you shouldn't need to clean it. Depending on what your code is, you could have a wiring problem.

This article has a test procedure you can try with the sensor: (The article is a bit old, so I'm not sure if your sensor is of this style. I drive a '99, so this all still looks right to me!) http://www.wellsve.com/sft503/counterp_v1_i1_1997.pdf

GM map sensors are generally cheap, they also tend to be quite reliable, might want to try cleaning the contacts on he pigtail, might just be some moisture int he socket.

MAF reads air flow through a calibrated orifice with a heated wire that can get dirty and need cleaning.

MAP reads pressure (vacuum and boost) and cannot be cleaned.

Thanks. I'll check the wiring. When I installed the GM Performance upgrade, I had to splice the wires to install a new sensor. Appreciate the help.
