As a bit of a house warming gift my father is passing down his old floor jack onto me. Its been a great jack but unfortunately its getting a bit tired. I've been in touch with some hydraulic shops to try and get it re-done but so far I've got the typical "not economical to repair" or "better off buying a new one" ect. I think I would be hard pressed to find something of similar quality today. My grandfather bought this jack used probably 60 or 70 years ago. It was rebuilt once probably 40 years ago before he passed it on to my father. I've used this jack since high school and have really come to appreciate it. I was hoping to find out if anyone has any information on this jack or input as to how I can get it back up to 100%. ID tag reads its a Manley model 7138B (though I assume it was probably built by someone else). Photos attached though they are not the greatest. I'm told it used to be red. Thanks in advance!

There is a place in Chattanooga Tn. that will rebuild the pump, they will have the parts and expertise to make it like new. Google Blackhawk jack parts. There are other places where you can get the seals also if you want to do it yourself. There's a guy on the forum that seems to be an expert on floor jacks, Highball, I don't think he's accepting any work but may have the parts you need and free advice. By all means rebuild that jack.

Thanks for the responses. I wouldn't be entirely opposed to trying to rebuild it myself, whats the worst that could happen after all (famous last words)? My biggest issue is I don't know what it is which makes it difficult to find parts. I'm sure the pump at least was built by one of the other big brands of the time but I haven't found much info on this model or the Manley brand in general. The other issue is the main ram doesn't the mirror finish I'm sure it once had. Oil leaked, attracted dust and dirt, and left the piston with a bunch of fine scratches over years of use. If I only knew then what I knew now, lesson learned. I assume this would need to be turned down.

I'll also shoot off a message to Blackhawk about sending it to them. I see they have tons of parts available, they seem like they would be the best choice to get this fixed up. I've made some headway with the local shops but again they seem like that's their specialty.
