Hi, I was on here a while ago, and saw a discussion about Manley floor jacks. My father had a service station in the late 1920's. We have a Manley floor jack, and would like to sell it, but have no idea what it's worth. Any ideas or suggestions of where I can find that out? Thanks, ****

I took a moment and looked over those old posts again. Manley was a very diverse company making many styles of jacks over the years. This is especially true of the earlier versions. Personally I have only seen pictures of the really old Manley jacks they made like in the early 1920's. I know their first jacks were mechanical and apparently they also made a vertical hydraulic during this time (verified from image here on the GJ). But these jacks are so hard to find.

Now I have seen Weavers and Walkers from this same period of time and they made pretty much the same styles over a long periods of time. But dang Manley was constantly on the move with model changes going on almost yearly. It would be a real chore to catalog and put together a collection of these early Manley jacks for sure. Does this fact make them more valuable than either Walkers or Weaver? That is a hard call as these old jacks haven't been that sought after until relatively recently so it hard to establish a price. The worst part of this is that jacks because of their weight can't easily be shipped across country like collectible hand tools can.

HA! I took some before and after pictures. I'll have to wait 'til my daughter comes over to post pictures. It would take me about a day to figure out how!

There's a manley 2 ton on my local craigslist that has sat at 120$ for a while. It would need rebuilding like most old tools, and for the right buyer that might be a steal. Personally I'd buy it if it went south of 100$ and I could get it in my car.

I might be wrong, but it looks like a Walker to me. For a hundred bucks, even needing a rebuild, could still be a decent jack.

The jack shown in the CL photos is a Walker Greyhound and they are not cheap to rebuild. The kit alone could be over $80 depending on where you buy it. Factor in the labor and you could expend over $200.00 in the repair.
