Bought this off of Craig's List today. Circa 1930, made in Bridgeport, CT. Works beautifully. Anyone know anything about his jack?

Holy cr*p! It seems that the hydraulic jack was invented by Robert Manley. Here is the patent info. So do I have the first hydraulic jack ever?

Well 1926 Pre-dates any Walker (hydraulic version) so i would say theres a good chance it was the first one. I was scrolling thru my book and i can still source kits for those jacks.... LOL.

Gosh I wounder if one of those new Chinese aluminum "racing" jacks would hang in there like that?? 80 years old and it still works. They must have made some real "****" back then. Put that in your corn cob pipe Chairman Mao.

That's simply amazing

That thing deserves a complete restore.

Wow. That's good to know that it's rebuildable, although could you imagine the nightmare taking that thing apart.

I'm glad that you guys like it! It wasn't cheap. I payed $150 and it's rated at 2.5 tons. Considering that HF sells a 2.5 ton ( I think ) long frame for about that much then I did well. Apparently, that jack retailed for $48 back in 1930, a large chunk if cash back then.

Oh, I bet Hiball could take you through the rebuild process without much trouble. While it's apart, you'd have to clean and paint everything, then when it was back together it would be the coolest show-jack on the site
