I have a HF manual hose reel that I use to run air out the driveway and occasionally out the back to garden tools. It works fine, was very cheap, and has held up for a good number of years. But each time I wind the hose back in I will experience 1-2 grrr's. Specifically, the hose will jump outside the one of the 4 arms on one side or the other jamming the reel, so back up 1/2 turn and continue. Not a major issue, but I always thought about doing something about it, but didn't until the C-virus made me house bound. I picked up some 1/8" steel rod from HD and formed it into a hoop to go outside the arms. Welded them on the other day and am very satisfied with the way it rolls up my hose. If you have one like this, and some spare time, you won't be disappointed.

I have had these hose reels at a number of shops I worked in and did not have the tangling issue. I did however always spray some brake clean on a rag and clean the hose every time I reeled it up.

My Bud rolled 3/8 steel brake line for his and I had rings I cut from a custom job I added to mine. It's been a super good reel, came with the hose, was cheap and it works super good. Been on 24/7 for 20+ years, not a single problem.
