Hello fellow wrenchers! I am hoping While reading one of my favorite sites online, http://www.motoiq.com, I came across a really cool low clearance manual impact driver. If you are a gearhead definetely check out MotoIQ, they have some great projects on there as well as some excellent write ups on suspension design and engine tuning.

Here is a link to the page: http://www.motoiq.com/magazine_articles/id/2829/pageid/5561/project-gd-sti--improving-the-fuel-system-with-injector-dynamics-and-other-details.aspx

Does anyone know who makes the tool or where it may be available? This would come in handy for automotive crankshaft pulley bolts and lots of low clearance applications.

Thanks!

That's pretty slick.. never seen one of those before

Pretty critical for some crank bolts... at least if you don't want to be pulling fenders, struts, bumpers or radiators.

Only downsides I've found is that it's often a 2-person job, especially loosening a really tight bolt. And it often results in injury to both people. Not uncommon to need one to keep the socket on and lined up, and the other to give it a few really good hits with a 3+ lb. whammer.

And how does that effect the bearings or the main cap much less the crank itself which I doubt was designed for impact loading at that location
