Anyone recommend a quality Manual Power Transfer Switch for a Generac 5500 generator?? Thx

GenTran #301060 is a good quality manual transfer switch. Up to 10 circuits can be controlled. Easy installation by a qualified electrician. L14-30 connection which I believe matches the output of a Generac 5500.

This. Or even a main breaker interlock for the panel, although I like the limited use of the Gen-Tran better.

I think this item is discontinued. How about the Generac 6294 ? Thx

That looks like an option thanks. I did notice it does NOT include an exterior outlet box though.

Many of the "Bottom entry" ones have no cover, so you could easily put that inlet in a plastic box. You could also add a cover.

A separate, covered inlet that's premade will set you back ~$60

Before going with an interlock solution check the gennies specs. Generac seems to need the neutral switched along with the 120V lines and an interlock doesn't switch the neutral.

I'm using an interlock and a 13 year old generator that's not so fussy.
