Manual Thermostat

I've tried searching the forums, but I haven't had much luck. My grandparents, who are 91 and 85, can't get the hang of the Nest thermostat that my uncle installed. The old thermostat is long gone.

Is there still a source for manual thermostat without a digital display that can also automatically switch between heat and cool? I haven't seen one since the mid-2000s and for the life of me, I can't remember who made them.

While I appreciate the quick replies, none of those switch between heating and cooling automatically. I'm looking for something like the old Honeywell Chronotherm, but with temperature-based mode switching rather than a timer.

The fact that I had to find a link to a museum to better explain what I want is making think I won't find one.

Sticking with Honeywell, it looks like T872 and T874 will work if I can find them. Neither is the one I saw all those years ago, but I still can't remember reading a brand on it.

I have one (with the appropriate subbase) that I found at a thrift store. Non- heat pump version. I grabbed it to serve as an emergency backup if the digital ones I have fail.
Don't know how I would get it to you though, as it contains mercury bulbs.

Non-digital and auto changer over will be about impossible to find. If you go to digital it opens up the possibilities greatly.

Yeah, the 874 is probably the auto changeover style.

When pulling the pics I didn't look close enough and missed the lack of auto changeover selector.

Available on ebay, but not what I would pay.

@Karl_B what part are they struggling with?

Seems if you want the auto switching from AC to heat, the new models really are the better option.

Maybe there is a model that addresses the issue.
