Manual torque on cordless ratchet

Wondering how much torque cordless ratchets can take. I've got an IR R3130 and an R1120. In wondering what these tools can take for a manual load. I seem to remember hearing that the r3130 could take around 100 ft lbs. Wondering what the 1/4 would do.

snapon ctbxxx somethin...the new 14.4 volt cordless 3/8 ratchet...i used it to break loose a headbolt i forgot to hit with the big ratchet...they usually torque to around 120 ft/lb(torque plus angle), it didn't crack in half and after i broke tension it spun the bolt out...and i've used it several time since then

i have broken caliper braket bolts loose many times with my milwaukee m12 electric ratchet. it still works like new. But the batteries are flimsy, the black part will seperate from the red part if you drop them enough, i had to silicon them back together.

Anyone know what the warranty is on the Batteries?

Milwaukee does not cover broken housings on batteries normally... I guess they just assume they were dropped or abused. It is either 2-3 years depending on the battery.

I do not think IR actually recommends using cordless ratchets to break fasteners loose. If the R3130 can handle double its torque rating, maybe the same is true for the r1120 making it handle 60'lbs? Just a guess.

It's safe to assume they can at least handle 10-20 ft lb over their rating? Is that tightening or loosening? I don't think they specify, but i could be wrong.

Accordingto ingersoll rand, the R31303/8 20v can take 200 ft lbs of manual torque and has 54 ft lbs of torque from the trigger. I'm curious as to what the R1120 has. Do you think the socket would crack before the tool broke?

The tool would break first, most likely the anvil would twist off...unless the socket is total **** lol. I think the crankshaft would probably be the next weakest link. I would guess than the 1/4 could take around 100, but that is really just a guess. If I remember tomorrow at work I will see how much torque it takes to twist off a 1/4 drive head from a milwaukee ratchet using a skidmore, I have a brand new head kit for the milwaukee with a missing ball I will sacrifice.

For anybody wondering, I contacted ingersoll directly. They told me they don't recommend going over twice the tools rated torque because anything over that repeatedly can damage the fork inside and cause damage to the ratchet. So since the r1120 is rated at 30, I'd think 50-60 is safe and the r3130 at 54 is good to 100-110. I'm sure they can take more, but I think that's plenty for a 1/4 abs 3/8 cordless ratchet.
