Good chance that car takes an oil which meets GM standard or the synchro facings fail.
I think coast and castrol make it.

I used to use GM Syncromesh fluids in my Jeeps. A lot thinner than gear oils and easier shifting in freezing cold weather.

Make one of these for filling those components. I made a couple for our shop at work but I used 3/8 id clear hose and it flows a lot faster then the set up in the video. I used a 3/8 metal line bent into a J to put in the hole. Real time/mess saver for sure.

I would buy the GL from the dealer. Fluids are one item I find dealers dont mark up too much, and if you ask for a discount I usually get one. The different GLs have different additive packages.

I have found that I had to do some research on these oils, to see for sure what was within spec., esp. when I had a Jeep that specified all different oils for the axles, manual trans, transfer case, etc.

I used to use an enema bucket to fill transmissions overnite. Very hand if the trans is already installed or is an old 4 speed with a side fill plug.

I use the garden sprayer like the video. except I go from the valve to 1/4 copper tubing bend a slow 90 in it. Will push a gallon of 90wt in @ 3minutes.
