I have always knocked mine over because they are tall, skinny and top heavy. I used to keep them on the floor so they wouldnt fall off the bench and still i would trip over them or they would fall over. Its just one of those things that drove me crazy. Too tall to store in a milk crate and then stack and i wasnt about to unscrew/screw the torch head on and off every time i needed to use it.
Today i figured it out. The HF magnetic tool bar you can get for free or $4 depending on if you have the coupon. It works perfect. I had an old pegboard shelving unit i was going to throw away but decided it was a nice way to hang my jackstands. I thought.....well hell i can just put a hose clamp around the propane tank with a hook and hang it on this peg board. IT was a **** idea but at least i would stop knocking it over. Then the lightbulb went off. I could use one of the magnetic HF tool holders mounted vertically on the pegboard with zip ties. Its perfect. No stupid hooks, clamps or anything and it holds it firm. YOu could hang all your small tanks this way. I know i am going to.......and it is nice to get them off the bench and floor as well.
I am not a huge fan of pegboard but after using it for my jackstands and now this i am glad i had this around for this purpose.
You could probably just mount the magnetic tool holder anywhere.....even under a work bench and have it hold the tanks there. It works great.
