Guys, I picked up this 1 1/2 horse Marathon motor today for a song & was hoping the electrical experts could help me wire it up. It was wired for 110 volts.

The 3 wires that have been cut are YELLOW, GREEN, & BLACK P1. Nothing else looks like it's been tampered with. If you guys could tell me what goes to where, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a heavy duty cord to wire it with, colors are the standard Black, White & Green.

I'm assuming the yellow goes to white, black to black & green to green, but you know what they say about assuming. . . :shocking:

Looks like it was wired for 240 to me. I think you need to change the wires around as shown in the diagram to run 120.

It very well could have been. I watched the guy take the cord off of it, it was a ground fault plug & best I could tell it was in the 110 verity, but I could have been wrong.

I appreciate it!

EDIT, I was glad to get it, gave $20 bucks for it. It came off a Sioux steam cleaner that had the pump & motor replaced under warranty. The pump locked up & tripped the protection on the motor. Sioux replaced the pump & motor no questions asked. The meter showed 34 hours run time on the machine. He fired it up for me & it ran like a swiss watch!

I'm not sure what I'll do with it to be honest. It was just too good to pass up. Would be perfect for a air compressor.

Thanks for the confirmation G P. I might as well leave it alone. I've decided to use it on an air compressor project.

Well, it looks like this motor isn't strong enough to run my compressor.

I wired it for 110 volts. I'm going to use it as a buffer till I find a good use for it. I kinda feel dumb now asking for help with it. Pretty simple really. Just follow the directions.

Anyways, thanks for the help guys.
