Matco!! Darn autocorrect

They are not the ones with a flex head, they have one ratcheting box end and a regular box end. Xl length.

Thinking of buying a set for my son as a Christmas gift.

Pros/cons.

You can save some dough and get basically the same wrench from Gearwrench. Also itll be easier in the future to warranty Gearwrench than it will be to flag down a matco truck

My son likes Matco tools because his favorite NHRA driver (Antron Brown) title sponsor is matco.

Think I will get em off EBay and put them back for his Christmas gift.

To me, that's the smartest move for SK. The X wrench is very good, but there are those who like that 15 degree angle and a direction lever, vs. a flat wrench...the reason I won't buy the X frames. But their ratchet mechanism just plain has everyone elses butts thoroughly kicked, and they should capitalize on that. The long double end ratcheting wrenches, especially flex head would put them clearly above the competition for that category. Everyone would know for that type of wrench, that is the one to beat...and that's the kind of word of mouth you want going around.

As good as the X frame wrenches are, I don't think that kind of word of mouth is going around about them.

I definitely agree with this, especially your last statement. It's really too bad because they're awesome wrenches, if you need that 0*. More times than not I grab my SO reversible 15* wrenches, but there are those times you just HAVE to use a 0 offset. That's why I bought the X-frames.

Really hope SK expands on the line. I feel there's a big gap in these XL ratcheting box wrenches. Seems I'm not the only one who feels this way!

Those wrenches you are talking about are the exact same as gearwrench gearbox wrenches go with gearwrench for these unless you have a student discount

I would also love to see SK develop and XL double box ratcheting wrench set. I have a set of X frames and they are very good, but I'm not a big fan of an open end wrench, I much prefer a double box end, and long, the longer the better.

I bought one of the matcos to work on bicycles at the clinic with, the fixed end is decent for the axle nuts that have been rusted on but the ratcheting end jammed pretty good the first time I used it on an axle nut that wasn't that tight. I had been using an XL set of gearwrench for the last several years and gave them to someone else there when my MIL gave me a new set of flex head gearwrench which also never jammed removing axle nuts. Heck I bought some generic russian 15mm off amazon for 3.00 and it did better then the matco. I'd try the gearwrench but I wouldn't spend matco pricing on something that isn't any better.
