Anyone here used Marine Clean before? I'm curious as to what your opinion is on this stuff. This is by far my favourite degreaser to date, but I'm always looking for something better :bounce:
It's made by Por-15 as a metal prep chemical for painting...but I use it for just about anything that needs to be cleaned. I like it because it's biodegradable, non-flammable, doesn't emit noxious fumes, is not petroleum based so it won't leave a coating on stuff, and is safe on plastic/vinyl/rubber/paint/chrome/etc. I emailed the company asking some questions and they said carpet is the only thing they don't recommend using this stuff on.
On the down side, it's pretty hard to find. I think you can get samples from Por-15 if you're interested, otherwise I buy a gallon of this stuff off of a seller on amazon for ~25 bucks shipped, but I think it's also available in quarts.
I dilute this stuff 5 to 1 typically and 10 to 1 if it's on a painted surface.
I have gotten so much good information off this forum that I thought I would give a little back with this obscure-seeming cleaner I love.
Maybe if work doesn't go well I could be a spokes person for Por-15:lol_hitti I'm curious what others think of it

Timely post! Where might one buy this stuff? I am looking for an all in one if anyone has a suggestion. I need to degrease and strip paint at the same time. Rust removal would be a bonus too! However, I have EOR for the rust, Air Plane (?) stripper for the paint, I need a real good degreaser though.

You can buy it from POR-15 directly. I've used gallons of it, usually for cleaning fuel tanks but it's good for other general cleaning chores as well. I've found it to be a bit pricey unless you have real serious cleaning to do.

For general cleaning, I use "Greased Lightening" as it's more economical... however, be careful and diligent when using it on aluminum.

I have found the Marine clean to clean the same as Castrol Super Clean, which can be found at some auto parts stores (no shipping needed).
