Surely some of you guys mark your tools in some way.
Sharpie? Tape? Engraver?
Got a new Fluke and various Klein pliers to put my ID on, so I figured I'd see any creative ideas you guys have come up with.
engrave it or mark it in TWO places. one obvious, and one not obvious.
for a fluke... you may want to mark it in a very obvious spot near the face of it or on the back. and then pop open the battery cover, and remove a battery or two and engrave or sharpie your marking beneath the batteries also (or fuse area). that way if it turns up missing and someone mysteriously has one like your a month or two later without any marking on the front (or suspicously worn off), your secret marking will still be there.
like marking a ratches on the back of it is a good idea because everybody sees that area. and then take the time to make a small identifying marker on the bottom of the handle (the small circle area on the very bottom of the handle). not very looked at part of it, but easy to see if it's yours.
although the best deterrent is to pick up your stuff, lock it up, and don't lend it to someone you can't trust to treat it like their own (and not make it their own lol). never had to engrave or mark any tools of mine as i keep things pretty tidy, and haven't ran into too many shady types. but i have seen a few cases where someone is missing something, and it turns up on or near someone else's box a week later
