I know some guys dont like engravings but I engrave the last 4 digits of my SSN number on my stuff. Some guys put a slash or two on their stuff... the only reason I dont like that is because I worked with a guy that did that. What are the odds that the guy he went to work for DID THE EXACT SAME MARKINGS! What are the odds someone that I work next to is gonna have the same last four digits of my SSN?? Food for thought...

I engrave my initials on every one of my tools. Even individual sockets. Makes it easy to tell what is yours.

Just dabbed some of my girlfriends blue nail polish on a 14mm stamped wrench on the 14mm on either end.

Gunna wait for it to dry and lightly rub off the outer coat with a polisher.

I have been painting my tools red ever since my first set which were Craftsman's. I was only coping what my father did with his tools. When asked why he told me for identification. That was good enough for me and so ever since my first set which were Craftsman's that's what I have done. That was back in 1977 when I started on the journey with 'my' tools. I never asked my dad why red, why did he pick red. Well a few years later I had to add on metrics. I bought Sear's largest metric set including taps and dies. I immediately was faced with "if i paint these red I will never be able to tell them apart from the SAE's". I thought about it for awhile and chose Blue and the rest is history. I have now found out that everyone in the industry has copied my color scheme. I'm not going to sue them just as so long as everyone knows I was first.
