Yes I still have the COE. I have no interest in getting rid of it anytime soon. I thought last week about getting rid of the red 63 Corvette. It is a beautiful car but I have only had it out 3 times since I owned it. It is nice to have something that is all done and nothing to do but drive it. Just for the heck of it I started it today to see if it had a battery drain. Nope, it sat over 2 weeks and other than having to pump the accelerator a few times it fired right up. I get about 8 hours in the garage each day and I keep on keepin on so by the time I come in its time to eat and relax. Although I watch a movie every night I have my computer with me and I order or research parts I need for whatever project I am working on.

I finally was able to mount the Zoomies. I had the driver's side done and as I start on the passenger side I realize the sliding door was a major obstacle. LOL I literally took off the driver's side pipes and put them back in the box frustrated I had $800 invested in exhaust tips I couldnt use. I let a few days pass and decided to give it another shot. I mounted the passenger side and once done I liked it better with a little less of the pipe showing. Yesterday I took the van to my muffler guy and with 2.5" pipe connected the exhaust manifolds to the Zoomies. I really like it.

I also am making another major change in the build. I spoke to Chris Cottington and I am having the same wheel I have on the van built in a 24x14 in the back and a 19x8 in the front. Considering I have 20's on the back it should be a significant change. If any of you guys know anyone building a Chevrolet C10 pickup I will have my current set of wheels for sale. The tires still have the stickers on them.

I hope all you dads had a good Fathers Day. My wife and I dont have kids but we have nieces and nephews we like to spoil. About 6 weeks ago a buddy of mine wanted me to help him find a 4 door Lincoln convertible. I found one for him and ended up going with him to inspect it. It was a real nice car and had spent the last 35 years with the same owner. He ended up buying the car and from that point I took an interest in these cars. They definitly cars with pimp appeal! I started looked and found a car located in Arizona. It had spent its life in California and Arizona. I just got here last week and its pretty nice. It has some custom 20" billet wheels on it and the paint job is real nice. The top works and the A/C blows cold air. There is a small short somewhere as it will drain the battery down. These cars are notorious for electrical issues because of the number of relays in the car. Its something I am going to have to figure out. For now I have ordered a 250 amp battery relay kit and will mount a switch under the dash. The guy I bought it from said he just disconnected the battery but I dont feel like opening the hood every time I drive the car.

Van looking good.
Nice Lincoln too.

Thanks. I am pretty excited about getting the van project done. I ended up doing quite a few things myself because I couldnt get help to show up. I hope in the next 3 weeks to have it wired and running. Last is the interior and i know its going to take months for them to finish it. I am liking the Lincoln a lot. I think its going to create a lot of good stories between me and other car guys when I drive it.
Mark, it looks like the whitewalls are part of the rims rather than the tires.

These are 20" 40 series tires and the white wall is very close to the rim.

Very cool addition to the fleet! Any updates on the Corvette project?
I thought it was a pretty cool car too and cant wait to drive it. The Lt-4 is installed and so is the 8L80 transmission. We had been waiting for an accessory drive that would work with this motor and also to fit between the frame rails. I had them narrow the front track width so I just made it much more difficult. However, the pace has been very slow and I have just started to put pressure on them. I am thinking about flying to Vermont for one day to meet with them. They are great guys and always answer their phone when I call but we have to move on with what they are doing..........custom fuel cell, one off billet hood hinges so the hood hinges from the firewall instead of the core support, one off billet LT-4 supercharger cover, and a few other things.

no roasting here either.

Hi Uncle Mark, if you ever want to leave a ride to your favorite unknown to you nephew, that Lincoln sure would be nice.

. I love that car. Any mods planned for it?

LOL for a minute there I was wondering if I did in fact have a nephew in New York! I am installing a battery kill switch and will be working on going through some of the electrical system. I do plan on pulling the dash as they did not do a real good job covering it. I must admit I am spoiled by the fact I had a killer interior shop at GodSpeed Rides so I am pretty picky. I was thinking of putting 24" wheels on the car but the 20" billet aluminum replica wheels look pretty nice on it. The 24's would give it pimp status. I need to work on the sound system. It wasnt a very clean install so I am going to organize the wiring, remove the aftermarket radio they installed under the dash and put in a blue tooth system so I can stream music. I will take some photos of the interior to show you guys. Its pretty cool.

Does anyone know how to set your preferences so you see your last post first?

mark, nice update. I would'nt mind the wheels, but they are outta my league!..:giggle: and the timing is just a bit late for me, I just installed my order of the traditional 5 spoke wheels on my '86 C10. curious... what did you do in relation to emissions for the van? do you require any emmissions?
thanks for the posts....:p(y)

That was the easy part. I put a new GM LS3 crate motor in the van and the only part of the emission equation I didn't do was the catalytic converters. Here in Florida we dont have any emission inspection so I am good to go. Do you have to comply with any emissions on your 86?

I actually like the white in that interior and that’s not something I would normally say.
Ha ha I completely agree with you. I would never have done white either but I think it really makes the car. I am considering white/ black in the 63 Corvette because I think it would look awesome not to mention you dont see many white interiors. It may sound kind of funny but if Lamborghini can get away with it so can I. I am really heading toward a European styling on the vette.

This past Thursday I loaded up the van and took it over to west palm beach to a pretty incredible shop. Doug is about 40 years old and other than a reliability problem is the most talented all around car builder I know. From CNC programming, to custom stainless exhausts to tuning he is unbelievable. The reliabity problem is he doesnt have any concept of time so showing up or showing up on time is sometimes an issue. I took him under my wing 5 years ago because he is that good. He works for a gentleman (John) over in west palm who purchased a shopping mall for house his car collection. This guy owns 28 dealerships so you can imagine the money flowing through his bank account. Anyway, I got my van over there and finally are starting on the wiring. On Thursday I stripped all of the wire out of the van to install a 22 circuit American Autowire fuse panel. The factory fuse panel is all that remained of the original van and since I have gone this far why not. I hope within a few weeks we can finally start the van!! Because I removed the factory A/C condenser I had plenty of room to mount the engine computer and all that goes with it. We will have a continuous hot mini panel and a ignition powered mini fuse panel to take care of the lighting and all the other bells and whistles I have added. Look at all those wires and the main fuse panel is on the other side of the van. Once done Doug does an awesome job of wire routing.

Mark, here in AZ there is emmission requirements. I have been "told" by a ADEQ rep that in engine swaps like mine I have to keep & use the engine replacement year requirements... it is a '13 LS so he said the engine needs to run/maintain the factory emmissions equipment for that engine. funny thing is that the newer engines run a "charcoal canister/container" like the '86 did just a newer version. atleast the newer equipment is more available to get then the '86 version - although I do have the '86 canister if needed. I am "looking foward" to seeing how they inspect for the approval....:sneaky:

Just dont tell them its and engine swap or get a intake and fuel injected carburetor and it would look factory. We had inspections in Florida 35 years ago but they stopped checking.

Hi Uncle Mark,

Can I come take the Lincoln out for a drive?

That color would not be my first choice, but I think that is why I like it so much looking at it more. It is so different then the others that are out there.

Mark, just dropping by to say I love your work. I like your new Lincoln too. (Not a fan of the wheels but that's a personal choice and an easy fix.) Hope the van turns out just the way you want it.

+Your welcome to come drive it anytime. I agree totally I would not have chosen this color either. Seem like quite a few are black out there but I am very satisfied with how they did this one.

Thank you but I do rely on others to do a lot of the specialty work. Like many of us on the Garage Journal I am a jack of all trades and a master of none! I am very excited about the van as it is slowly taking shape. I only wish I knew I was going to replace everything on this van except the steering column because I would have done it totally different. I have been overwhelmed with the interest on social media when I post van pictures. I have seen only a few vans that have been customized with a good paint job and nice interiors. I have never seen a "pro touring" van that has been lowered with an upgraded suspension. The low stance of the van and those big 14" wide rear wheels make it different. I cant wait so see what we do with the interior.

Since the van is gone for another week or so I have been working on the Lincoln. The Lincoln convertibles have over 30 relays that work together to put the top down. They do everything like rolling rear windows down, open the rear top cover and truck and on and on and on. Unfortunately there is a battery drain so I decided to work on the wiring. I am in middle of installing a 250 relay switch to completely shut of the battery when not in use. The guy who owned it before would disconnected the battery by raising the hood and manually unhooking it. I will have a switch under the dash that will turn on and off the relay so I dont have to raise the hood each time. I would take it to Lincoln Land located here in Florida but they have a 3 month waiting list. I think it might be a problem with the rear doors so I purchased a trouble shooting guide from them last week. Today is Saturday so I am going to spend most of today trying to get familiar with the operation of the rear door.

Mark, much as I love a black suicide Lincoln convertible, your light color one is far more practical in Florida. My light gray driveway hits 130°F on an average day so I suspect a black car would get close to 200°F. Same with the interior. My Vette has the charcoal leather and I sometimes hear a sizzle when I sit in it after it has been in the sun for a very short time.

Love the interior!
I put white seats with black carpeting in my 72 Camaro and it's the one thing that got the most positive comments.
White seats with houndstooth door panels and the black carpeting just made the car!

Side note: If I seen that van on a trailer I'd probably look like a fool trying to get you to pull over so I could check it out. Simply awesome!

30 relays? I would go nuts.

Any word on the Vette?
There is finally lots of things going on with the vette. Now the engine is mocked up they are doing quite a few things. The motor sits pretty far back so for balancing the car it is a real advantage. It also gives lots of room for the radiator, air intake, and plumbing. We just got confirmation from Lingenfelter we can use their logo on a custom billet aluminum LT-4 blower cover. You guys are the first to see the design. Rothspeed will mill this out on their CNC and I think it will be badass. They are also building a custom set of stainless steel headers. This car is really starting to excite me with the level of detail we are looking for

Thank you. I saw a Lamborghini with a lime green interior and I thought that was awesome. I try to have an idea what I am going to do but I never lock myself into anything until the time comes. I change my mind alot so I need to be careful buying parts to much in advance. I am heading back over to West Palm tomorrow to check on the van. There is some good progress going on with the van and I think we will be starting it in the next 7 days.

Those headers are a thing of beauty, I really love watching what you have going on and look forward to seeing ever post you make. I will have to build a set in the next couple of months for my new engine and it is a bit daunting to say the least.

I was looking back on my thread and realized I did not post a picture of the countertop I build for the new kitchen island. My wife wanted a wood top to match a couple of the tables in the living room. I was talking to my brother and he reminded me he still had some of the red oak I brought to Florida when i moved down in 1983. I was living on the family farm at the time and this wood was stored in the old milk house by my grandfather. It had be cut out of the woods at the family farm 80 years ago so it had sentimental value. I stained the top and brought it in the house and my wife didnt like how i had stained it. LOL So basically I had to spend hours sanding it back down to the bare wood. It was red oak so I purchased some wood bleach and after 3 applications I had the oak a pretty neutral color. Luckily there is a guy in one of the local paint stores who is a master at stains and he was able to come up with the formula that was perfect. Once stained i used the clear conversion varnish and sprayed 4 coats of matte clear. I am really proud of this piece. the areas eaten by beetles really give the top character.
