thanks guys for the clear coat updates. When we get closer to the final assembly I will look into some of these ideas.

I am working on a side rocker idea for the 63 split window. I want to be very careful about this and not get too far out of the box with a skirt. I brought in a guy who used to work in Detroit doing clay models. I purchased about 50 lbs of clay and we are going to mold a model of the skirt out of clay to see how we like it. Hope you follow along.

I like the idea of a slightly larger skirt. As beautiful as this car is, the SRIII frame rails hang below the stock rocker panels. I guess it's not a problem if you keep the frame spotless....

Bob, I am trying to hide as much of the frame as possible without creating too much height on the rocker. We are trying a few design elements to make it look shorter. We left separation between body and the rocker to take some of the heigth out. Also the skirt detail we added breaks up the skirt to take away from the height as well. What do you guys think about what we accomplished today?

Keep in mind that I'm a big nobody when I say this, but... I'm not sure I like it. It looks like some baseboard moldings have been tacked on. Maybe paint will tie it all together visually. I have stood corrected in this thread before. What Bob showed in the pic of the black Vette looks nice. It's simple, powerful, and has a lot of detail. Obviously in your case though, you'd want to draw the eyes to the wide hips and not some chrome rockers.

Think you guys know that originality is my preference, however, that black car would be a welcomed addition to the garage.

As for the frame peaking out, don't think that is an issue since keeping it clean would not be a problem as the car may never see a gravel road let alone, a wet road, paved or otherwise.

As for the side skirt height, think this will be a person preference and certainly will get the attention it deserves on the current build.

There is one thing about the car building business.........there is never a shortage of equipment to buy. Today we took delivery of a new frame table. We are working on setting it up. We have a new project coming in on a pretty high end build for the shop. I guess they expect us to set the car up right

I used a product manufactured by Scott Paint here in Florida. It is a two part acrylic epoxy coating. H & C makes a 2 part and there are some others. I like it because it is chemical resistant and is a hard finish. It wears really good. Only disadvantage is it is UV breaks it down after a while so it should not be used in direct sunlight. I have been using this product for 10 years and I would not use anything else.

I was also curious and found this on the JD2 website

Looks like thru-bolts go between the tubes for all the various jig pieces.

And the size is deceiving with nothing on it. Table is only 5' x 12'.

They are located in Tennessee. We do have a bender it is just not pictured.

We are going to be getting on it this week. I spared you guys the boring stuff. All of the panels have been worked and are primed. Here is a picture from last week of Thom working on a custom rear roll pan. We will be widening the windshield and working on the custom roll bar later this week. I will post pictures once we start making progress. thanks for asking.

I figured you guys would like this one. Its a 1971 Oldsmobile 442 convertible. The car has already undergone a full frame off restoration and is in beautiful shape. The exterior color is lime green and the interior color is pearl. It has the automatic transmission and power convertible top and the 455 cu in motor. Unfortunately as I understand it there are not records showing how many of each color was made or what options were available. I am trying to determine a price on this ride and will get it on eBay and sell it. The 442's are not as popular as the Chevelle's but it is a nice car to drive.

Whoops.......sorry. I will tell you it seems like I get up and go to work and come home and go to bed. Dang what have I got myself into!!! Mission accomplished......the Monster Garage is now at full capacity!! I have the Chevelle we restored back to do a little service to. I decided it would be cool to take a few pics of the 454 big block chevelle (1970) and the 455 big block 442 (1971). Its funny they both are automatic, both have white tops, and both have the pearl interiors.

I finally got my 86 chevy pickup truck painted. We painted it the same color as the Chevelle. We have had this truck since 1988. It has spent most of its life in our barn in Indiana as our farm truck. It has kind of lost its way now that it lives in Florida. I am going to be putting it on eBay because it no longer serves a purpose.

The camo blazer has been a fun little project. Now we have the Banks Turbo Charger kit installed the owner is going to pick it up. We will soon be putting custom seats in the truck and some other goodies.

We have run out of room at GodSpeed so I have found myself bringing cars to the monster garage. A man never has enough garages space.
