Mark,

Understandable, though you could almost paint your Corvette any color and still be mascucline with that setup, hehe.

How about a classic, Laguna Blue (paint code 978). I think it would look pretty sinister with all black trim and you would be using a more "vintage" color. It's dark, yet not "black" which, though mean, is just so common.

I am not much of a photographer but I snapped a shot of Dwayne getting ready to paint the 57 Cadillac and I think it looks so cool. We painted the big sled today and I really love the original color. Leghorn Cream on the bottom and Dusty Rose on the top.:rocker:

What about a pearl black where during the day, it looks gun metal with micro flakes but at night, it is black. Along with some Matte grey wheels and possibly an orange or teal blue thin line around the outer lip of the wheels?

Please don't paint the Vette all black and lose all the beautiful lines. Black wheels on a dark car( even though it's the "in" thing now) just looks cheap to me. I really like the Corvette yellow of about 15 years ago, kinda dark. While the new color is bright and seems to change depending on the lighting, it's just too light. How about a burgundy metallic? I ordered a '76 Nova in Firethorn and loved the color.

Mark....As usual, you always knock it out of the park. I was looking at the pics of the C10 though, and I have to agree with PantherSteve.......the bed is not right on the truck. I've seen so many trucks that gets lowered, and 90% of them look the same, the bed droops at the very rear, and the body lines do not match up. I know that you are a perfectionist, and you wouldn't want to let things go like that, so I won't mince words. You need to add some shims here and there to bring the front body line up a hair, then some shims to bring the bed horizontal with the cab lines. Just from the pic you show, I'd say that you are about 1/2" in the front of the bed too low, and maybe 3/4"-1" too low in the back. It's not much, but it's enough to catch peoples eye.

Aside from that.....I LIKE IT!!!!!! Heck, I like anything that comes out of your shop that has four wheels on it.:thumbup::beer:

That Vette would be killer in Silver with the black trim. Just my .02c....

Yes I agree with you too. I feel the silver would do the black trim justice and be a color appealing to more people than trying too unique....if that makes sense.....clean is cool

I know this has been said and I will check up on it just to set the record straight:thumbup: I do feel the bed sits a little farther away from the cab than I would like. Considering we are finishing the interior this week I will put the bed on my bucket list of things to do.

Here is the center console in the works. Its not together but it will give you an idea what we are doing.

We are getting closer guys. I just got the tires on last week. My brother built the ladder on the side which is one of my favorite parts! I drove it 5 feet today in the shop which is probably the first time it has driven under its own power in 35 years.

Thank you guys so much. The owners were in today and very happy. We are 99% done with this project. I will be getting some good pictures of it in the next few weeks when its done. The biggest smile came we I got them in the back of the truck and turned on the sound system. I synced my iphone to the radio in the back and cranked it up a little. We have a 12" sub woofer and 4 speakers in the back so it really rocks.

I am really getting carried away with my 63 Corvette. I had this idea in my head for some billet aluminum tailight bezels. I have been thinking about them for the last few months and finally today the idea hit me. One of my new guys can build just about anything so I let him do his thing. I gave him my idea, he sketched it up and the next thing you know we had a killer concept. Many this stuff puts a big smile on my face. The bezel will be black anodized with chrome fasteners. We are considering drilling holes in between the cap screws and recessing led lights for turn signals.......it never ends.

Mark, that is just plain bad ***. I love it when Allen head screws are used. If you recessed LEDs as you said, can you split the turn signal and stop circuits so when sitting at a light the center would be brake lights and the perimeter would be flashing for the turns signal?
Look forward to getting by someday, I'm just down in Ft.Myers.

Love the idea Mark. Especially if you go for the LED signals. You never cease to amaze us. Keep up the great work Mark and crew.

That should be no issue at all doing this. Should be pretty simple.

Love the badass lights. What about recessing the allen screws to be flush with the surface. Is there enough metal to do that?

I agree with Craptain, that would nicely finish it off. The polished aluminum looks good like it is, but I can also see where the black trim with stainless cap screws would be sharp.

My quick 2 cents - drill and tap the backside (blind) in 2 or 4 spots for studs and use the current bolt holes for the leds. I think it'll be too "busy" back there with leds and the allen heads (be they cap screw head, buttonhead,or countersunk). Less is more.

You don't build to my preference ('50s - '60s traditional) but I like your vision and the quality work; I always visit your thread to see what you're up to.

I agree with everything you guys are saying. There isn't enough material on the back because the light lens is recessed in the back. Our solution is to mill the top of the socket head's so they dont stick out so much. i agree we dont want it too busy around the light bezel. Thanks for the ideas and I am continuing to look at the bezels before we make any other changes.

I hired a new guy at the shop so he is finishing up my C10 interior. He is building the door panels as you can see on the table. The center console is almost done and I think it looks awesome. I hope you guys like it.

Small voice from the back of the room but you can use stainless button head screws instead of socket head to save having to turn the SHCS's down.

I like the small voice in the background:thumbup: I put some button heads on 1/2 of the light today. Not the best picture but what do you think?

Couple of cautions with fasteners, from my experience. Button heads can be regrettable because they have a smaller socket recess than a normal socket-head screw. The smaller drive size can result in stripped sockets if there's ever corrosion as there's a lot of area under the head for this to develop.

ALso, stainless fasteners do NOT like stainless nuts. Assembled dry, they will gall severely resulting in twisted-off fasteners, the garden variety 304 or 18-8 are butter-soft, 316ss is a more serious alloy, but also much more expensive. Heavy dose of anti-seize applied at assembly or just use a zinc-plated nut.

I do like the look of the button heads btw :)

Button heads do look better but I think you should mill the others down as a third option. I like the look of the others better except the fact they stick out to far. Once milled down...I think that's your winner!

I like the tail light bezels. Off the car I was thinking that looks like overkill. On the car, I think it looks really good. You could do the turn signals with LEDs if you decide to drill the holes.
