Marquette Dyna Vision engine analyzer

I got this for $25. Took 20 years of oil and dirty off of it and polished it up as best I could. Kind of cool.

Thinking about converting it to a floor lamp with LED coming from the space age monitor up top.

Anyone ever deal with these? I have this black plastic ring that came off of it and I can't figure out what it came effects of. I assumed it went on and around the front of the monitor but it doesn't fit.

Wouldn't mind finding a couple spare parts as well.

I have a few Marquette testers here, and wish I had found that one instead of you... not bashing, but please don't hack it up to make a lamp out of it. While they aren't really worth much money on the market (location dependent, of course), there likely aren't too many of that model in that decent of shape and still intact. A friend of mine in Ohio (fellow collector and ASE master tech) and I would likely hurt each other fighting over it if you were at all close to either of us!

Oh- and that plastic ring is probably a trim piece for the scope lens...

BTW- If you live anywhere near me (within a couple states), and go to sell it, please let me know!

That is SO COOL! They are not that heavy on the tech. side so you should be able to get it back working. I agree with Kansei, it would a shame to hack it up.

I've got a bunch of Marquette manuals from the 70's-80's, but nothing that old.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe
Heyer was bought by Marquette
Marquette became a part of Applied Power Corporation, which had numerous brands.
Marquette became part of Bear Automotive.
Bear Automotive became part of SPX Corporation
Bear Automotive Merged with Allen Test Products
All of these companies are now history

I have one of these amazing toys that i dont know to much about. came from my grandfaters garage. last thing tuned on it was a 64 barracuda. got all kinds of goodies underneath in the storage like vx-6 cadmium battery additive still in the box. no dings or dents still powers up. its a sweet little piece of auto history. but would like to know more. any info would be great

Please do not hack it into a lamp. While that would be unique in itself, this is piece of automotive history that will never be seen again. These things were made while America was thriving, boys and father tinkering in the garage, daughters in the house tinkering with moms and grandparents. A truly great time in America. Keep it as is and then down the road sell it to a collector or automotive museum.

it would be cool to make it into ambient art non-destructively.

is that a CRT on top? if so, remove it (carefully!) and put a diffuser screen in its place. then behind that a matrix of LEDs or maybe even an LCD panel. have it display slow-changing patterns. wave-like things. would look pretty sweet in an office or shop.

take lots of pics of how things used to go and store any removed parts carefully.

This Heyre- Dyna-Vision was the first Automotive Scope Diagnostic Tester. It was before Sun and Allen. It was silver. I worked for Sun from 1972 to 1983. I have a very nice picture of it and Sun and Allen all together from 1963. A old friend back in my early days use to write for the automotive trade mags and he bought the first one in Ohio. If I remember correctly his name was I think Bob Zerlinden. If I can figure out how to put the picture in here I will. It is very clear photo.

That is WAY COOL! I saw the Sun version at a garage sail for $200-minus the tube part. I just had no way of getting it home or storing it.
