Marquette MIG Welder

I went to an auction last weekend and ended up with a Marquette M12209 MIG welder in a lot I bought. I've don't recall ever even hearing of Marquette before. What little I can find on the internet says they are/were distributed by Lincoln.

I plugged it in yesterday. Everything seems to power up; LED screen works, some small green lights come on, fan runs, but the wire won't feed. When I probe the contacts on the end of the gun lead and press the trigger, the circuit closes, but the feed motor doesn't make a sound. I did NOT have gas hooked up.

Anybody know anything about these machines? Is it worth spending the time and money to get it working or should I just take it to the scrap yard?

Did you ohm out the wire feed potentiometer? I seriously doubt that is the problem, but it doesn't cost anything to check it.

I don't know much about the Marquette mig welders, But their old arc welders are nice machines!

I cleaned-up & rebuilt an old Marquette arc welder a few years ago & it's been running great.

Here's a link to an Old Post Of Mine that has some pictures of the welder.

As far as I could figure out Marquette stopped making the arc welders somewhere in the 1970's. I also think that Lincoln bought them out around that time!

It's possible that Lincoln could have carried on the Marquette name for a few years?
